I smell a Steeple 108 and Kartel 108 in my future.

willyg0808Curious about a similar thing. Shredded my ACL last season so I just copped Kartel 108's so I'm not tempted to huck myself in the park. Have center mounted my last 4 pairs of (directional) line chronics. I really want to eventually huck big tricks with these things after my knee is fully rehabbed, where should I mount these suckers? I also plan on skiing switch a fair amount. What's the limit of pushing mount forward before I'm unhappily fighting sidecut?
@on3p ?
Shoey-SkiHey guys, I've asked this a few times before, however I'm going to pull the trigger this week and I am looking for some last opinions, I am stuck deciding between the K98 and Magnus, I was going to demo them, but the demo day near me was cancelled, I ski on the east coast almost all park but a like to cruise around and explore on occasion, never ski pow, and like something fun and playful to jib around the mountain, I'm leaning towards k98 because it seems like everyone I see with on3ps has them and loves them, but my mind isn't set yet, I ski 70% rails 30%jumps mainly because my home mountain never had jumps, any input is helpful thanks!

BWalmerGo with the recommended spot. The sidecut will work great switch, and they rip all over the place at that location, it's not as far back as it sounds. Think about riding backwards, it's basically the same body position as riding forwards (weight over the toes, body weight towards the tips - sometimes even more so when riding switch) so having more tip than tail won't change the switch carve. The only real reason to center mount a ski is if it's symmetrical or if you're looking to lower the swing weight for faster/bigger spins and be more centered on rails (which it doesn't sound like you're really looking to do). I think you'll be happiest at recommended.
Sounds like the Magnus is more your style. The K98 is a fairly stiff ski, so it's a bit less playful than the Magnus. It's true that most of the team rocks the K98 right now, but that's because they're looking for a more versatile ski and they want a wider platform, as an east coast ski, it's not really necessary (unless you prefer the wider park ski).
Shoey-SkiOkay cool , this makes my choice a little easier now, by chance is there any demo days with in the next 2 weeks in pa?
Shoey-SkiAlso, I feel like a wider park ski might be something cool to try, do you think a custom k98 with softer fiberglass/and or carbon fiber would make them nice and playful, (or am I way over thinking this )
yzzidif you have the cash to get a pair of fully custom k98 then by all means go for it
Shoey-SkiI feel like I'm trying to convince my self to get kartels because everyone has them, so I think I'm going to just go for magnus's
iggyskierHave you checked them out in person at Willi's? Might give you a better idea of which will suit you better.
Shoey-SkiWillis is almost a 3 hour drive from me , and trying to convince my mom to let me drive 3 hours to look at skis is useless haha
iggyskierWell if you make it to the location at Seven at some point they should have some pairs in stock at their on-mountain store.

[J_Gasper]Could you justify a Wren 98 as a DD out west?
I live in Michigan and go out west twice a year but find an awkward gap between my Chronics and old 110 Jeffreys. On dry weeks where I want a stiff ski to ski the steeps, I find the Jeffrey to be a little cumbersome, but the chronics a little narrow. Wish there was like a 95 Wren.
Profahoben_212You can easily use a 98 as a dd out west or back in the midwest. 98mm is pretty small. Also a 95 to a 98 is almost no difference at all. Go measure 3mm with a ruler....making a ski 3mm thinner won't be noticeable really.
I feel that would be a great gap filler in your quiver though if you're just looking for a hard charging ski.
