I smell a Steeple 108 and Kartel 108 in my future.

LiteratureAt least with the widths of the Steeple series, you might be trying to stretch this ski a bit thin.
The RES on the Steeple 102 hooks up just fine on ice, crunchy refrozen silliness, and chalky windboard. However, many of the traditionally shaped skis at that waist width tend to suck in soft conditions, which are very much a part of spring skiing. You'll find that the 102 handles them a lot better.
Go long in your options because of your size/weight.
You also might consider the Steeple 108 as well, as it has enough girth to handle deeper days but isn't too wide to consider for a spring option.
DirtyDruidThanks. The steeple 108 looks exactly like what Im looking for, but unfortunately I gotta get something from last year to save money!
I may go 189 steeple 102, its been tickling my fancy for a few days. Still debating the 184 Steeple though, because its really not that much less ski than a 187 Hoji, which is my 3rd option. Also the 184 steeple might be great for longer tours and tighter spots, to compliment a 192 sick day 125 with beast 16s that are for inbounds/sidecountry at baker. hmmm 189 102, or 184 112?
If I wasnt planning on buying a custom wrenegade, id be all over the steeple 108!
.lenconSomething to note on the Hojis is that 4frnt sizes a bit small so the 187 hoji will probably be the same length as the 184 steeple.
DirtyDruidYa that's what I meant by it not being much more ski. The hoji measures just over 185cm, while the 184 steeple measures probably closer to 185cm too.. all my on3ps are almost a full cm on the long side (but still truer to size than most brands)
The flex pattern, and overall chest-hair growth level factor, the Hoji is a bit burlier, but not by much. The steeple is no wimpy noodle. And while the hoji is a tad burlier, the steeple has camber, helping it have a similar speed limit everywhere except the worst inbounds crud.
Probably going with the 189 steeple 102, but it wont be until after my move up to bellingham(next 2 weeks) since I just bought 193 C&Ds the other day... As Lit said, the 102 broadens my touring quiver more. I have a mid-winter sidecountry ski, and would have an early/late season explorer that can still handle anything I throw at it, with beast bindings on the 189cm 102...

DirtyDruidExtra stiff Billy Goats, with the new sidecut underfoot, will be killer skis I bet. Jealous, but my 2015 191 BGs are way to Minty for me to justify another set.
I think I may have to forgo the custom wren 113, and go with some extra stiff steeple 108s, with some cool topsheets. For an awesome sidecountry/inbounds do it all ski.
LiteratureI'm certainly biased, but yes, yes, and more yes. Do it.

blazer258This is probably way in advance but does anyone know when the dates for the demo tour come out? Also will there be a few east coast stops in Vermont by any chance?
DirtyDruidHow do you feel about the steeple 102 changing to the steeple 98 this year? It seems as though you really liked the steeple 102, but are you glad to be on something more traditional for next spring? Or will you keep a pair of both, for different conditions?
cdblu_freeskiSo about the C&D's I have questions. Where is the mount point cause I'm wondering how much tail I'll have behind me and how if you guys are doing custom top sheets again this year and when I'll be able to get so of that action. Love ON3P, best brand I've ever owned
DirtyDruidThe C&Ds look pretty sweet, but I still dont get what has been done to the outside edges? Inside edges are RES, and the outside edges are early taper?
I have 2016 193s, they are maniacal. Will upgrade to the 2018s if needed, but I want to see some reviews of the new sidecut.
j.w.vIs it just me, or has every ski been given a price hike? Don't know how I feel about seeing the Magnus coming at $629. I feel the time for dedicated park skis being priced that high has somewhat passed, regardless of how amazing the quality is.
Otherwise the lineup looks great. It does appear that the team has definitely shrunken though...
PownessHey, need some quick help on what ski to get for next season. Already have J122 with alpine bindings and looking for a ski to tour with. Really dig how the J122 skis with the centered stance and all. I know the K116 is not a tour ski, but really thinking about just getting them with some Kingpins. I want to have the opportunity to have fun with them in the resort to. I know tour bindings isn't really that great for fun stuff in the resort, but heard some great things about Kingpins?
And since i don't know how much i love touring yet i don't wanna go all out on a touring set up yet. It's always a next year.
The issue, found a local shop that have a J114 in 186. Since i live in Norway i will hit some hardpack, will the J114 be a better allrounder than K116? I'm 188 so they might be to small for me, but i know touring skis is supposed to be a little shorter? They have one pair left so have to decide quickly. Also want a GC topsheet(yes, i need another one), so the K116 have that going for it. Given you can get one when the custom shop open.
.lenconSo Sander is no longer with you guys?
What fatter ski will you guys do next year?

iggyskierFramework for the ski we were working on with Sander remains. We will see what happens.
Honestly, though, sales on skis 120mm+ are....slow. There was a reason we were comfortable moving forward without a wide jib ski. If we feel there is a need, we will address in. In the meantime, most of my focus is on continuing to evolve and improve the skis we actually sell.

Profahoben_212Yeah i probably wont every buy a ski over 120mm ever again...they stop being useful after about 3 hours in a resort.
Any thoughts on skinny goats? id be interested eventually if i end up scraping up some money
.lenconYeah iggy, I saw a thread on TGR about baby billy goats, but then I asked Literature at the demo and he said he's never heard of them and I'm referring to the Steeple 108.
I mean I guess the Steeple is a smaller bully goat with the RES but wasn't there plans of an actual baby BG?

DirtyDruidGoing thinner with the new C&D is good too. It seems that manufacturers have figured out what works best in pow, and they can incorporate powder technology into 116-124 skis to get them to ski like Super fatties that were over 130mm of years past.
The only reason I bought my C&Ds, is because I'm moving to Mt. Baker during a possible La Nina event.. If not for that specific circumstance, I would not have even considered going over 120mm
That being said, anyone who skis a resort that averages 400" or more of snow per year, GET SOME NEW 191 C&Ds!

Profahoben_212Yeah I remember a thread about a special order of them somewhere on NS...and I'm pretty sure I saw a pair floating around somewhere too....maybe it was a prototype steeple 108?
iggyskierThe Jeffrey 114 will be a bit better all around than the Kartel 116, where the Kartel 116 will be a bit better in powder, but just barely for both. Both are very similar, though, so if you liked one, you would like the other.
How much do you weigh? I mean the custom option is great if you want a GC topsheet. The Jeffrey 114 is a great ski though, and would likely be quite a bit cheaper.
snip
DirtyDruidDo you put extra carbon in your steeple 108s or go stock?

DirtyDruidI wanted Baby Billy goats last year with a few people on TGR, but ran out of money... Glad to see them being an option, I will have money for them this season, around christmas!
Do the Baby Billys have a higher speed limit than the steeple 112? They should work better on hardpack with the new RES design for this year too, right?
Are the custom topsheets for this year the same as last year? What are the "America" side walls? Red white and blue sidewalls?
SconnieLeaning towards the Kartel 108. I should probably go wider since I'll be skiing at Jackson/Bridger/big sky for the next 5-6 years, but the 108 waist really appeals to me as a "do it all" width. Maybe I'll size up from 186 to the 191 cm to help out in the pow.
Anybody think this is a bad idea?
LiteratureI wouldn't add the length unless you're a tall, big dude. Bridger and Big Sky have their share of spots where longer skis are more of a hassle than a help.
SconnieI'm kind of on the edge... I'm 6'1 175 and I usually put on some weight during the season. I guess it not a huge difference, and I'm used to 186's so I may stick with that length. Thanks for the help.
cydwhitI'm half an inch shorter than you, and almost exactly the same weight, heavier in the winter. I spent time on the K108 this spring in a 186. I'd agree with David, I haven't skied Bridger/Big Sky, but for most days at Jackson you should be fine on a 106, and everything I've heard points to Bozeman skiing having more tight spots that lend themselves to the 186.
And honestly, personally if I was more worried about charging and flotation I'd go K116 in a 186 instead. David and Scott can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it bears a lot of similarity to the old Jeff 114, which I spent 5 days on this year and absolutely loved. More stable, more ready to be pushed than the 108, but less buttery, and less fun on shallower days.
Either way though, you can't go wrong. That K108 stands out as my favorite 2016/17 ski that I've been on so far, and the Jeff 114 was definitely one of the top skis I was on at any point last year.
Chubz.when will custom ski orders start ? I wanna go in on a pair of magnus's but id rather have them with a kartel topsheet
SconnieGreat advice, thanks! I impulse purchased some Jeffery 114's last year in 181cm. Ended up way too short and the previous owner had them mounted three times already so they are pretty damn useless, and impossible to sell.
I'll be on the lookout for some fatter skis in the future, but the Kartel 108's seem perfect for now.
The kartel 108 topsheet with some 15-16 orange fks's would look sooo dope.
cdblu_freeskiAll I wanted was grizzly corn C&D's :(
iggyskierIf you would like those, email and I could arrange them this month. The reason the Cease & Desist is not available on customs is that we press them only once per year, so no coming back for them, where most of our other models we revolve production on.
We haven't pressed this year yet, though, so I could set them up temporarily if you are interested.
cdblu_freeskiThis is exactly why ON3P is the best. Email ON3P's contact email or?
iggyskierJust email me directly - scott AT on3pskis DOT com.
SconnieAre the skis that are in stock currently shipping? I'm not getting toooo antsy, just curious. Thanks.
