I smell a Steeple 108 and Kartel 108 in my future.

Profahoben_212Well if you need a rep......
and fair enough. I cant blame you, it is quite the way out of the way looking at your other demos.
dyeranyone know if the magnus can also shread a groomer or a regular run. Really want a dedicated park ski that can hit the groomers and maybe a few all mountain laps, but i dont wanna sacrafice anything in the kartel. HELP??
IggyskierDemo guys might have misspoken or maybe just didn't convey things correctly.
The Magnus is an update to the FR, rather than a skinny Kartel. The changes were made, though, because a large portion of the team thought some updates would make it a much better ski, and all but a few riders were skiing the Kartel 98 primarily for park the past year. The team was moving over to the Kartel for 2 reasons. 1) They prefered the width/stability of the Kartel 98 and 2) Most were not a fan of the way the full symmetrical skis ride switch.
It doesn't have tips as tapered as the Kartel, the mount is much more centered than the Kartel, and the flex is much rounder and more buttery than the Kartel.
It basically took the 5 years of team feedback on the Filthy Rich and updated it, with Magnus is the primary driving force for the direction of the ski.
If you liked the Filthy Rich, you are going to like the Magnus. But we believe it now functions much better as a ski, not just a park ski. Carves better both forward and switch, has a bit less tail rocker so more stable in landings, and a slightly rounder flex and tighter turn radius so it is even easier to carve in and out of features.
Hope that clears that up.

.lenconI demoed the k116 and BG today at pebble creek. I'm really torn on which one I should get haha
Carl_the_LlamaHow does the 116 compare to the old 114? / compare to your 106s?
Shoey-SkiHas anyone tried the Magnus yet? Looking for some comparisons between the filthy
.lenconSo is it the Magnus or the Magnum? On the demo skis they had both..

.lenconWell the updates they made are really awesome. The K116 carves just as well and moves edge to edge just as well as my k106 now that they updated the rocker and taper. I didn't get to take it through pow but with a 116 waist, taper, rocker, I know it would do well. So yeah the 116 rips, kinda feels like a fatter k106 with some updates that I really enjoy.
The k116 and j114 are similar. I thought the k116 carves better for sure. Both have similar charging but I also found the k116 to be more maneuverable with the taper.
So yeah I really like the new k116 and the taper haha. It's pretty awesome and I'll pick up a pair once I retire my k106 or find some extra cash haha
Ali_DibdenWill the prester still be available throughout next season on order perhaps? Was looking into updating my cambered park skis with a set of those
Justo8484Got to ski on a few pairs at the demo day at Blue Mtn yesterday in spring junk snow. I have a pair of Jeffrey 110s and 122s, so I'm looking for something on the narrower side of the all mountain spectrum. I was really hoping there were some Wren 88s available to demo, but the reps said the skis haven't been pressed yet, which makes sense. I did get on the Wren 102, which was surprisingly a lot more nimble than I expected. I also checked out the Prester, which was pretty fun in the bumps once I got used to a cambered ski again, and poppy and stable when hitting the few park features left. Thanks to ON3P and the reps for showing up on a pretty gross day. Wish I could have stuck around to spin a few laps with you guys after the demo finished!
PudgeWill we have to wait until summer to hear anything solid on the Sander ski?
PudgeWill we have to wait until summer to hear anything solid on the Sander ski?
SurfboardSuper interested to hear the waste width, can anyone give some info on that? Similar to the 122 or wider?
Shoey-SkiDoes the Magnus have the same amount of rocker as the filthy rich? I noticed they have the same amount of effective edge
iggyskierSame tip, 10% less tail rocker.
Shoey-SkiDo you think it would be better for me to wait for the magnus? Or just snag some filthies while I still can, I ski on the east coast 80% park and like something buttery and soft, that won't wash out on jumps
iggyskierWorking on it. Tahoe is hard. The only resorts we have been given the go-ahead to demo at are Sierra, Rose, and Northstar. I bet Sugarbowl might let us, but with Heavenly owned by Vail, that is also out.
Squaw/Alpine told us a per day fee we couldn't afford and Kirkwood said no (we are not sold at their on-hill shop).
This is pretty standard, occurs at probably 30% of the resorts we contact about demo days, but makes it hard to justify a full fleet down there.
Right now, we have our main demo fleet, a fleet in CO, and a fleet in the mid-atlantic area (based in Baltimore). Snow out east and some other factors have made the East coast a bit slower than expected, but we should have it rolling soon. We are close to getting a fleet that will handle specifically Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming, so that will help our current fleet focus more on the PNW next year (the goal, because having sales/production people running demos is hard when we are backordered on skis).
By next year, we hope to add another east coast fleet, and the a midwest fleet. California would follow. It just comes down to access. When we are only allowed to demo at 3-4 resorts in the Tahoe area, hard to justify a fleet there, when we can demo at 20+ on the east coast, midwest, etc.
And like I said, this isn't an indictment of the resorts themselves. I understand why some resorts don't allow brands they don't sell to demo. ON3P gets to demo 2x per year at our local mountain and don't get to demo at Bachelor at all, which really sucks, because if we could, we would demo at each 1x per month all year long, which we personally think would be very beneficial to each in regards to built rapport with the core skiers at each mountain. We definitely understand why though and are working on trying to make it so we can demo there, but the world of demos is tough.
Tahoe finally has snow, too, so sucks we won't be able to make it down there this year.
iggyskierHonestly, they are both great skis.
The Magnus is a bit better outside the park (due to the non-symmetrical sidecut).
Inside the park, both are great. The FR is a touch more playful (more rocker), the Magnus is a touch more stable when landing (less rocker), while being a bit rounder in its flex. If you liked one, you will like the other.
Magnus price is going back to where the FR was for previous years, so just be aware of that as well.
DeviateHi,
I'm in the market for a new daily ski next year and I've been anxious to get on a pair of K98s for a while, was just wondering if there are any changes to the ski from this season to next, flex, rocker etc? I'm not really bothered about graphics and the dimensions look the same. Just wondering to save a bit of money on sale and buy now or wait till next season.
Also came across a deal for a pair of J114s, was reading on blister how great these are and might want to snatch a pair. Found an inconsistency however which had me wondering, the blister review pair are at 2.2 kg while the on3p site says they are 2.38 in a 186. Not a big difference but just out of curiosity which one is correct? Also, anyone tried these with a kingpin setup? :) Thanks!
Mr.PenguinJust wanted to say thanks to the On3P dudes who were out at Alta today. Got to test everything minus the Steeple, as I didn't bring my tech boots. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a Kartel 108 and a Billy Goat for next season. I also might try and pick up a Wrenegade 98, I jumped on a pair while I was waiting for the Kartels and I forgot how fun it is to be mounted that far back on a carving ski laying down GS turns. All in all very impressed with the new line, as I knew I would be from my time on the Jeffrey 114 and 122 last season. Also I miss camber (currently riding 4frnt devastators and renegades).
iggyskierAwesome! Thanks for taking everything out.
TheRackerI've always wanted a pair of ON3Ps, and I think next season I'll finally cave and get some. Kartel 108 looks perfect for me, a good replacement for my 13/14 shreditor 102s. I'm just a little worried about the width, 108 is getting up there, they should still have good edge hold and carving ability right? I'm going to be skiing colorado/california. And they won't overlap too much with my volkl ones will they? I haven't skied the ones yet, just bought them because they were stupid cheap and I didn't have a powder ski.
RudyGarmischI find that they do, but I'm mach-ing around on heavy wet cascade crud more often than not. There is the 98 if you wanna size down, but if it looks good as is I'd do it - the float on the 108's is great and if they overlap with the ones, sell them and get something crazier and more pow specific and fun.
Shoey-SkiHas anyone demoed the Magnus, just looking to get some feed back between them, the Kartel 98 and filthies
Mr.PenguinThere's a good comparison between the magnus and the filthy rich a few posts above yours. IggySkier posted it.
Shoey-SkiI know, I just wanted some other opinions on how they rides and what other people thought, I'm kinda skeptical buying a brand new ski for 600 bucks that barely has any reviews on it haha
BWalmerI know it's not a review, but the Filthy Rich has been considered one of the best park skis on the market for a while now, and the only reason it's being replaced is because something better came along. Basically, the Magnus is everything the filthy was, and more. As far as going between the Kartel and the Magnus, the Kartel is stiffer, wider (obviously), slightly heavier (width adds weight), will have better float (again, wider), but will be less nimble edge to edge. If you're looking for a pure park ski, you'll probably want the Magnus more, unless you're into the wider platform in the park in general. If you're looking for a park ski that also skis all-mountain a bunch (say, 70/30 park/all-mountain or more), then go with the Kartel. Either way, you'll be glad you did.
.Duncan.Sorry if this has been addressed but what are the difference between this years and next years billygoat?
