Good Mittens

Hey NS.
I know there are lots of mitten threads on NS. but they are old and outdated.
So I am looking for a nice pair of mittens for skiing.
I was looking at the flylow oven mitts, love the style, but their american and shipping is a pain in the ass..

want your input NS

I just picked up a pair of the Dakine Baron mittens and they are the best mittens i have ever purchased. I have the Chris Benchetler team version and they are super warm. The inside of the mitten is wool to keep your hands extremely toasty. They are also Gore-tex which is a big plus for leather mittens. The price is pretty steep but if I had to buy them again I would in a heartbeat!

Flylow's are pretty solid for the price. I snagged some Hestra Leather Fall Line's for $50 and they're awesome, best quality mitt's I've used, although at full retail I'd say they're overpriced. If you need serious warmth Cabela's Pinnacle mitts are a fantastic deal, and they're on sale right meow. Or just any cheap insulated leather gloves from the hardware store treated with Sno Seal.

got some awesome new mitts for christmas. they are the hack mitt from pow gloves. super warm, my hands are fine without handwarmers to about 15 degrees in the mitts. Big plus on these is also the zipper that runs from th bottom of your thumb up to the top of you middle finger, super nice for letting a little breeze in after hiking ir a warm day. i dont notice any air leaks when the zipper is closed fully. comes with leather wax which was super easy to as well.

I have three pairs of Hestra's and I can honestly say I'll never buy another brand of gloves in my life. (Unless I move somewhere extremely wet and need a waterPROOF glove). They're durable, comfortable, and built with the best materials. Highly recommend. Just remember to keep them oiled to keep the wet out and you'll love them.

I have had some Black Diamond Mercury Mitts for years now that I like a lot and they are still going strong. Very warm and waterproof, but they were a bit spendy...as I said though, they have worked great for years.

These. Seriously best mitt I've owned. Cheap (30-40cnd), durable (I'm on season 3 on one pair and season 4 on another), low profile and warm. I've never had cold hands with them

These mitts are the best, if you have the cash. Warmest mittens you can buy, very waterproof and they have a finger slot inside for your index finger for added dexterity. The only thing I don't like about them is that they are gauntlet style and I like under the cuff gloves/mitts, so I just end up shoving the gauntlet under anyways which can be difficult sometimes.

Dakine (the gore-tex ones), hestra, black diamond, arcteryx. Can't go wrong with any of those.

I find hestras overpriced. I'm had a few pairs of goretex dakine mitts and they've held up super well for the price.

Second the Mercury Mitts. I use them as belay mitts for ice climbs but bring them skiing for seriously cold days. Some of the warmest mitts out there, and have very good grip. I also agree with the gauntlet being annoying but you can usually shove it under the cuff if you try.

You can find Kinco's on amazon, or many hardware stores. I suggest getting the Axeman mittens. Also, if you have an option, get the skin color/tan ones. Avoid the yellow ones, they smell like wet dog and are not as warm.

This is a little late but the 3 fingered Hestra leather mittens are by far the best gloves i've ever had, they stay warm and dry after a full day out on the mountain and are super durable.

Out of the three, they're my favorite. Super waterproof straight out of the box, and also way more comfortable... I always got sweaty hands in my kincos and joysticks, but the flylows are perfect for every temperature I've ridden from -20 to 50... Definitely picking up another pair if these ever blow up on me

I got a pair of the Hestra Fall line mitts and they are definitely the best gloves ive worn. very durable, great dexterity, good fit, and insanely warm. my one gripe is how wet they do get from continuous use, so you will have to apply some sort of leather protectant balm every 20 days or so, im at atleast 30+ days so far this year and they get soaked at times but my hands stay very warm.

Thanks for the input, but i've settled on the Flylow Oven Mitts, And $150 USD for a pair of mittens is steep.

Kincos for sure, best mittens around with finger slots and hold up real well these run for around $23 on amazon, but a cheaper version of kinco mittens is the axeman.
