Some ppl can't be bothered and inconvenienced to exchange a quick, "Hi, how's it goin?" If you want to leave it at that... that's cool, I'm not always down for exchanging life stories anyways, but damn... it sucks sitting there in silence


Or if you don't want to interact... when they start talking to you just look at them, lift up the bar, and throw yourself off the chairlift. If successful they might get the clue that you're not really up for conversation

I've met some super cool and interesting people on chairlifts. I usually just ask how their day is going then its pretty easy to see if they want to talk to you or not.

I got on the lift and some girl goes "I love those!" So I gave her a whole run down about my skis and why I like them and it turns out she was talking about my goggles..

Of course, that is how you keep the stoke going on the mountain. People ski like they go to work; boring and depressive. Conversations range from how skiing big mountain is awesome to sharing beta on lines and zones.
But on occasions I do get the monosyllabic person.
