Skiing on the weekend has become borderline stupid, with massive crowds that lead to poor snow that just leach the fun out of skiing, to the point where I have converted to almost exclusive weekday skiing. Theres a fraction of the crowds, and the people who are there are much generally easier to get along with. I'm in college and was lucky enough to be able to schedule just morning classes 4 out of 5 days, which has resulted in boatloads of time to shred during the week. Lately I've been reading more and more threads about weekend gaper takeovers, asain invasions and moms and dads from hell, and thought that it would be worth throwing it out to the NS public that there is a better way. I understand that some people have jobs and other boring weekday responsibilities and that sucks for you, but for those brave and irresponsible enough, I invite you to join me and the rest of the weekday warriors out there to enjoy monday and tuesday afternoons, thursday mornings and wednesday night sessions. Or dont, and leave the best powder days, park laps and woods skiing to us.
dont get too far ahead of yourself there, ive waited in hour long traffic jams up to snowbird/alta on a tuesday. crowds dont give a fuck what day of the week it is when its blower. but yes, mid-weeks are very mellow and awesome. grab some coffee, breakfast, hit the road around 9 or so, get there by 10 with plenty of parking and go ski around all day. love having tuesdays and wednesdays off, have skied tons of pow this year without any kooks getting in the way.
