Bad weed "trip"

So I have decided to quit smoking the electric puha due to an extremely bad trip last night......

Just after work I headed to my bros place for a session, I got there but he pulls out this giant 2 foot bong. I haven't really hit any bongs before so this was kinda new to me, and I also have no experience with psychedelics.
Anyways we start taking some huggggeee rips, and I didn't know how hard they would hit me at the time. (I think the strain was either AK47 or white widow)
A solid 10 or so hits later, I was baked outta my mind, and this was the start of my crazy ass trip.
I could wright a book on the shit that happened last night but the scariest part of it was that I went into such a deep zoned out mindset/dream that I felt like I became nothing, I could feel nothing physically, I could only hear hundreds of thousands of small cuts of sound and I could only see thousands of Images. I was stuck in another dimension.
it was like I experienced life after death.
If this was just a bad trip on weed, I couldn't even imagine what a bad acid or DMT trip would be like.

Anyways NS what are your thoughts on this and have you guys had any crazy stuff like this happen to you on weed?

meh. Sounds a tad bit over exaggerated.

Sounds like you weren't prepared mentally for what you were going into, and got a little more baked than you had intended. The feeling probably was just too overwhelming, causing anxiety and leading the situation to become worse.

With little experience smoking it's best to start with smaller amounts because people tend to get over whelmed and give themselves anxiety or what some describe as "depersonalization". I wouldn't quit smoking, I experienced this at first, and now I toke up regularly, up to you though.

Yea OP went through the same phase here. Its usually with bongs tbh, you start smoking heavy and you can start feeling some really fucked up type of way. youll be back...

Im not blazing now because I know I'd get shitty highs and it would make me lazier than I already am.


But if you gave me a massive dab or bong hit I know Im such a mental trainwreck and I'd trip out like this.



All the stress I have over my business and problems and stupid shit I've done would knock my ass out.



Weed can hit you too hard normally you have enough of a tolerance for it to not get this bad but it happens and you need 2 hours to come back to earth. And sometimes if you aren't home and can't lay down when you get this kind of too high it can be worse and you have a fall or faint.

it sounds like you just got really high at a friends house. I've watched people do it at my house before, but no that's just your body having a panic attack because you don't know whats going on.


You do have to remember that smoking weed will readily fuck up your brain, especially if you have prior mental health shit going on.

Ya ditto whats been said basically. I have a similar story from last yr that you could find in the im high thread... Ppl gave some good suggestions. But yeah Ive been smoking a fair amount for a while now but had similar things happen when I first started smoking larger amounts. Just has to do with becoming comfortable with and getting used to being really high or high outside of your comfort zone.

Im starting to feel like shit bc of all the cigarrettes I smoke due to no weed. Could always drop cigs like nothing with some weed on hand but Im gonna need to man up and grab a bag of green to get me off that soon.

had the same type of thing happen. cold sweats, pale skin like the whole deal. i never knew it was just because i was in a different environment though.

it happened to me back in middle school a couple times but I've smoked a pretty consistent amount of weed for a good 6 years

You whitied. Everyone does it sometime. I think it's caused by something like low blood sugar, but there isn't much real science done on it.

Basically if it happens you need to eat something like cereal or have a glass of OJ. It might make you feel a little better.

This is believable, getting really high off bong for the first time can mimic a real trip. People forget that weed is a psychedelic and there are people who take massive breaks then smoke shit loads in a dark room and full on hallucinate.

I've never had a "bad trip" on weed per say, however i have had some definite hallucinations both auditory and visual.

This is not true. Half the negative shit in this thread about weed isn't true. Especially that it is awful for your brain, it's actually quite the opposite.

Real "weed" will never make you hallucinate, it's not an actual effect. Yet people tend to feel like they're tripping, because they don't know how else to describe seeing the world through a brand new mindset.

Not sure where any negative connotation was pulled from my comment. I never mentioned anything about cannabis being harmful to the brain, though i do believe it can be harmful with chronic use through developmental stages of the brain (12-19)

You should probably brush up on your research before you make claims because that entire comment was out of your ass. Cannabis is a psychedelic drug that in high enough doses can bring on effects way beyond what it commonly experienced from a recreational weed smoker.

Cannabis had been used edible form throughout history in order to obtain insight and visions. It may not be as powerful as say mushrooms or ayahuasca, however somebody who uses cannabis ceremoniously once or twice a year in a dark setting will surely experience things unlike normal cannabis smoking. I have personally worked with cannabis in this setting and can attest to its legitimacy as a psychedelic and hallucinogen.

It is also known to amplify and clarify hallucinations on a mushroom trip. This all contingent on the fact that the user has not been using it chronically in the months prior.


Im a psychedelic nerd, don't make random claims like you just did.

The confusion with weed is that people think it's mellow no matter what... usually it is. But just like any other psychedelic people who aren't ready for it can freak the fuck out.

Yep, first few times using a real bong I got fucked up and still one or two milky rips can get me going for an hour or two. OP, youre fine you just oversmoked yourself since it was good shit and a fat bong. Happens to everyone

I have smoked many giant bong rips in my day, with a good portion of those days being spent with a 6ft bong as well as a glass on glass gravity bong. (plus a roor and a zong /claim)

Every once in a while you will get extremely baked and have a trippy sort of high. While they're frightening during the experience you may find your self chasing that high again and again to no avail.

Mind you I mainly smoked weed at this time in my life, I didn't drink much and never had a psychedelic. I my self am a "light weight", that meaning I get a lot higher then most of my friends off the same amount of weed, not to say I didn't have a tolerance built up there for a while.

I have experienced "Black outs" while smoking that actually played out as a "Slide Show"

Smoking weed is smoking weed, you just smoked too much that's all.

Now a days I enjoy a hit or two every couple of months. It honestly doesn't take much to have a good time with some good weed, but everyone has that time in their life when they love to push the limits of pot and get super baked with some good friends. I mean come on its a fucking blast lol.

But in all reality you just smoked to much, you may experience this same thing again as I did. Just try to remember times past and keep yourself calm when this does happen again. A break is not a bad thing, just don't be scared of marijuana because of it. It wasn't the weeds fault it was yours lol.

Just letting you know it has happened to other people, I have some gnarly stories of getting extremely to high but telling them would take a lot more text then I have already provided. Cheers

My buddy and I made a waterfall using a 2L soda bottle and a trombone slide for a mouth piece. We each tried clearing the whole thing and it was probably a month after we started smoking.

He immediately dropped to the ground and started puking out of the door into the back yard.

He told me he was Jesus and his puke was making the waves in the ocean.

I didn't have a much better experience, as I puked on my soon-to-be-girlfriend and was later incapacitated, laying on the kitchen floor, explaining to my friends that guitar hero was playing in my brain hole.

Whoops.

Smoke less.

You told me about this at killi at rails to riches. but op, I have a pretty high tolerance and 10 bong rips would get me fucked. For your first couple times smoking just smoke a bowl and you should be feeling good. Also some people get really bad anxiety their first or second time smoking. I've never heard of it being that bad but it's most likely just a one time thing

Yup, I had a similar experience as well. This can be due to low blood pressure (Vasodilation) or dehydration. THC is a vasodilator.

I have fainted whilst smoking weed. The onset symptoms of fainting include high pitched ringing in the ears, extreme nausea, tunnel vision/distortion of vision, hallucinations, lose of consciousness, debilitating fear, chest pains.

If you haven’t eaten or drank anything in 12 hours prior to smoking you can get this.

I don't smoke anymore because it gives me the spins but one of my friends is going through a similar thing.

He used to trip every day on high doses of tabs or booms but he ate a little over a quarter of an ounce over the summer and experienced a really severe ego death. Now he can't alter his perception in any way because he just gets hits with the empty and useless feeling associated with an ego death. I have no idea what is helping him or not helping him but it's actually a pretty common thing and there's a lot of research on it if you dig around.

People taking psychedelics that frequently are asking for it... The one rule of psychedelics is respect the substance. After i discovered mushrooms i did them once a month for like 6 months which seems like nothing, however i had one experience on a low dose that really fucked up my mind and reminded me how real this stuff is... It's nothing like drinking some booze or even smoking some weed, mushrooms,LSD and on are serious...

Thats why I dont fuck with that stuff. It can affect you weeks after the previous dose. My friend really wants to try them, mostly as a one time thing or just a every now and then thing but Im not on board at all, I just stick to the basics which isnt even that often anymore.

Turned super pale and fell asleep one time thats all I can think of tho....my friend told me one time when he was dabbing he couldnt feel his arms and legs......i asked if he was laying on them and it turned out they just fell asleep and he was just baked out of his mind. lol

And OP yea man, i havent touched the stuff in a couple years, THC can really have negative effects on the brain. CBD on the other hand is very helpful, with anxiety and many other mental health problems, I would start blazing again if weed gets legalized in canada so i can pick up weed with no thc

moved to CO for school and ended up hating weed because the THC concentration is just too damn high (haha) so i converted to almost all CBD concentrates. "The Wife" is a really really high CBD strain with little to no THC at all. def should check it out

A nice high CBD strain makes all the difference. Has such a medicinal benefit.

I have too experienced 'black outs' that I just remember as slideshows. The first time it happened was pretty early on before I smoked regularly, and we all thought it was laced with something at the time, but were just really high.

If you have high anxiety take that into account. I am a fairly anxious person and when i smoke weed it intensifies the current feelings I was having before smoking. I have had numerous panics attacks and a similar "tripping" you are experiencing. Even when I am sober I also tend to zone out and have weird thoughts and visuals. When I smoke weed I often can close my eyes and create movies/ visual effects/ different sensations. Start small and find your happy medium.


One way I create better experiences is setting the vibe.
1. i smoke with my best friends
1a. in nature/ camping/ overlooking something serene and beautiful.
1b. I never smoke at parties. I dont smoke at houses I dont feel comfortable with. I 2.mediate before
3. Play good music
4. i dont usually watch tv or movies that are conflict oriented
5.

Another word of advise is that you will be the highest at the hour mark. so rip it wait an hour then rip it again if you think you can handle it. dont fuck with edibles until you have built a decent tolerance

a month or two ago I smoked around 6 bowls of some weed I bought of a lifty at my hill. We bought off him vaped in his car then we all went for some bong rips. It didn't hit me right away. I though I was good but suddenly I just had no energy at all and I kept seeing blurry and lots of random colors. Usually I ski the whole time but I went out once and felt like I would pass out. I ended up sitting inside by myself for 4-5 hours. That's a bad trip but I'm glad it happend it was pretty fun

Last time I smoked I took about 15+ hits and I was fucked i got scared and thought I was trapped and like every time I closed my eyes I felt like I was dead but that's not going to stop me from smoking
