Already got a wide angle (Tokina, I forget the specifics), looking for something that doesn't require you to be really up close, but doesn't break the bank, maybe a prime lens? I know cannon offers an affordable 50mm which I've seen used in edits before, wanted a bit of input before I make a purchase. I'm on a cannon t3i at the moment.

canon 24-105 f2.8 is the most all purpose lens, the f4 is reasonably priced but if you can do it go with the f2.8 it will make a world of difference.
