Lost the little rail game I had

Ok so last year I just started rails and in the beginning I was landing about 40% of them and by the end of the season I was landing about 70%. This year I was pumped to go skiing especially because of the delayed season because of the shitty winter the east coast is having. So opening day was last Saturday and I was all psyched to hit some rails. I hit the first one and nailed it. Then I hit the second one and ate shit. Then a few runs later I went back into the park and went to hit the tube and that was hardest time I hit my head besides football. And after that I'd always bail out right before hitting the rail and make complete ass of myself. I want to get over it but I don't know how. I've tried just going for it and I can't. I honestly don't know what to do I'm not afraid of doing anything off a kicker and I'm not afraid to take anyone in football even if I'm a freshman and they're a junior but when it comes to rails I get sketched out. I honestly don't know what to do because just going for it isn't working and not hitting rails isn't an option

Fixed it.


Whenever I take a hard hit, I get up and do that same shit again IMMEADIATELY. Otherwise, I'll develop a fear of that specific trick.

For sure. wouldn't even consider park with out a helmet, and as i get older, crash shorts are soon to be acquired

Yeah this is true if your not broken do it again quickly, nyjah Huston said he does this exactly there's video of him literally just falling down like 18 stairs and slamming and he gets right back up and does it and to this day he's yet to break a bone. Different sport same concept just think out of all the times you tried sliding a rail you hit ur head hard one time most likely won't happen often is my point.

SAME. Oh man, Im on the EC too, and my mountain made the absolute sickest park they have ever had as their opening park. Shit was insane and Im a rail guy and the rails were top notch for the EC too I was in love. I got so psyched to shred them then i started hitting them and I bitched out on so many tricks. I wasn't afraid to hit them, but I can trick any rail in the park normally, and I could barely 2 onto the urban rails that I learned 2's onto last year. I would literally just slide off the side and feel like a goon. My style was also not there. Im guessing I just need to break myself in more and get my raill legs back.

Keep the pressure in the front of your boots, pop and land sideways with your skis shoulder width apart and look to the end of the rail. If your ever having trouble make sure your knees are bent and you aren't standing straight up

when i get stuck like that, i pick a super easy feature like a mellow box, and just hike laps until i have hit every trick i have*. definitely a robotic way to regain lost confidence, but it works for me. After you have finished up on the box, move onto the next feature.

* if you are only comfortable with natural, try learning lip on and unnatural etc on that safe box... learning new tricks [without taking painful bails] will get you past that mental blockade.

If you fall on a trick or bail out before you try it then do it again right away or you'll be too scared to try it again and just bail out before the rail

How many days have you skied so far this season? If you took a whole season to get to your 70% benchmark then you won't be able to get there again after just 3 days of skiing. You'll have to patiently build yourself back up over the season. And don't psych yourself out over feeling like you're losing your skill or whatever. As long as you're skiing, you're skiing just fine.
