Are breaks really necessary? (for street)

Si I have decided to bring my old k2 domains out of retirement for some street skiing. Sadly the bindings I have (marker squires) have no breaks. That is why I got new bindings in the first place. So from anyone that skis street a lot do you think that I really need breaks? My thinking is that I don't because there isn't much of a decline after most urban rails but I cou;d be wrong.

for sure but how much can you really expect from a plastic housing? if I had a set of griffons laying around you can bet yr ass they would be on there. At least they go up to eleven so I can just crank em down

Even if you need them just tie a shoestring from your boot to your binding. Problem solved.

Yes you need them. Not for actual brakes, but because they keep your heel at the correct height in the binding. Your release settings will be all fucked up without them (or something the same height jammed in there to keep the height correct)

OP cut a couple pieces of wood into like a tiny little brake sized block and just throw it on your binding where the brake would go youll be all set

this is 100% correct the little metal sticks that actually act as the brakes are basically unnecessary the part that goes under your boot is what actually keeps you in your bindings.

Yeah, rode brakeless in the urban for a few years. The only problem was the ski tends to go renegade if there is a slope. Otherwise, no difference.
