When I got sponsored by PornHub I approached them. Yea, it helps to ski well and to be able to pull out a dub, but one of the most important criteria that Sponsors look for is your likability and your social network reach. You could be the best skier in the world and be able to triple and even stomp out a quad, but if you don't have a social media presence and you act like a prick, then your chances just got much slimmer.

My buddy who is a pro stresses his social media presence and his ability to get podium wins when looking for sponsors. No company wants to invest money and time into you if you can't spread word about them and their products.

Just be happy, smile, laugh, and step up your social network game. Instagram is the hot one since you can tag your sponsors and get more exposure. Try to place in comps, talk to people in the industry at events, if not events minimally email, and get yours.

HardI'm in the process of sending a few sponsorship emails and I was wondering what would you include in that email or phone call? Does anyone have a previous sponsorship email they have sent or received that was well written and helped them get into contact with the right people? Template? Or what do you business owners want from your sponsored athletes? I want to include competition results, pics, videos, and marketing capabilities to show them why they would want to sponsor me.

Businesses want to sponsor athletes that uphold the same values as their business. You are on the right track with competition results, pics, videos, and marketing capabilities, but don't forget to tell them about yourself and link all your social media.

Make an "elevator pitch", this is a short synopsis of you and your unique capabilities. This should be about 30 seconds or a few sentences in length that you can recite anytime anywhere.

Also, don't get discouraged if you get turned down. Businesses get contacted all the time for sponsorships. Just work on your skiing and have fun progressing.
