Replying to Fixing Dimpled Bases - HELP

I have a pretty good idea but this would be the first time i have attempted a repair like this, so let me know if this sounds about right.

1) unscrew binding
2) use flat metal scraper or LIGHT hammer work to pop dimple back into place.
3) use sander to take 1-2mm off screw.
4) screw binding back into place.

Also someone at the shop said i could use elmers glue when screwing the binding back in for extra hold but i have never heard of this. If true would marine appoxy work better?
