YLE, Opus, or Bent Chettler?

I'm looking for a twin tip ski to use as a side country/resort ski that I will be mounting with frame bindings. I will be going to college at Montana State next year and I don't know how often I'll actually be able to get into the BC so I'm sticking to a jibbier ski and a set up that I can use at the resort. I've narrowed it down to these three and I can't really seem to find much of a difference between them. I'm 5'8" 125 so I'm going to go with the 177ish offerings for them but I was wondering if there is one that is distinctly better as a more playful powder ski or if I should just get whichever is cheapest.

ehh depends on what you want. Opus probably would be the lightest out of those 3 so for longer tours that would be the best option i'd say, but it doesn't sound like you'll be doing long tours. I've heard the yle is a really fun pow jibbing ski in pow, same with the bentchetler. I am a little biased though because i ride 4frnt devastators and love them, 4frnt has great durability but they are kinda heavier so i dunno if you'd like them because you don't weigh a whole lot. i'd say the opus for you

Thanks. Yeah my problem is that I don't know how much time I'll have for touring. A friend of mine has a pair of YLE's he's going to let me check out. I'd definitely get Opuses or Bent Chettlers but I can get the YLE's for over $400 less than the other two.

yeah if you try your friends out and like them AND can get them for a lot cheaper, id say do it. Ive heard a lot of good stuff about them, but i don know that they probably will be a little heavier than the other two. but if you're not touring than it shouldn't be too big of a deal

Well if you are considering touring whit some Opus, bent or YLE the chance are that the little extra won't mind you

Which binding gonna go on them? And how much touring?

I have Opus 185 and baron's for slack and inbound now, was my only ski in Revy three season ago and won't take these guys for anything else them resort or small slack now

Opus are nice, but I find them too soft some time and way to heavy for any tour longer then 3hours

I'm probably gonna put gaurdian 13's on them. Next year will be my freshman year at MSU and so I really have no idea how much touring I'm going to be doing so I want to get a set up that I can use for shorter tours and that I'll still be happy with if I end up using them in bounds 98% of the time.

Guardian are heavy, so pretty much any skinfrom your list would be good considering the binding itself is really heavy

98% inbound? Get some trecker, there a new version coming out. I hate skiing inbound on my baron, sure the height of the guardian is smaller but still they are not light

Thanks for the advice. My biggest problem is that I'm just not really sure how much time I'll spend touring so I just want to have all my bases covered in case I end up doing day tours every weekend or if I ski Big Sky for the whole season.

Suck you don't have some spare money for cast system, if you already have a pair of binding laying atound you could find one for cheap here or on tgr tho.

You might want to take a look at the daymaker, pretty much a better trekker.
