StuckWithOHWho else thinks that its almost certain this is the year we will see the first official quad cork be attempted in the 2016 X-Games? Because the kicker gets bigger and bigger every year as well as the tricks, I can see it happening.
I_BohrmannI doubt any skiers will, if they were going to they would most likely try it outside of a competition first.
elcornholioHenrik sent the first nose butter triple in x games.
I_Bohrmannbut didn't somebody do a triple before that though

Mr.BishopThe jumps at the X-games aren't even close to being good for quads. They basically would need to create aerials jumps, which is what massive flipping needs.
I hope that there is no jumps for quads, no attempt at quads and as a matter of fact people back off and focus on progressing style as much as they've been focusing on technicality.

HP123I hope someone throws a quad this year it will be legendary. Or some kind of butter/revert included would be awesome to see as well. Everyone that hates progression and hopes they won't see a quad is a pussy. Style can be a beautiful thing but the better technique wins over every time.
freestyler540Even on a tripple kicker jump, there have been very few attempts. If quad are coming out, these guys would have to strap base jumping rigs.
FIRETHECANNONSI'm sure a snowboarder will... not sure about any skiers though.
tdolloWhy is this post down voted? Snowboarders have done quads already this year. Snowboarders threw triples in xgames before skiers did, so there's a good possibility someone on a board will try a quad
Mr.BishopSkiers did quads way before it was cool.

HP123was this shit not epic as all fuck back in the day? And you've basically been saying quads nowadays aren't cool/don't have any place in newschoolers. I'm sorry I don't understand your logic here.
StuckWithOHNick Geopper did a quad into an airbag
Mr.BishopIt sort of depends on your meta view of the situation.
Sure, in '83 people were blown away by this. It was some ground breaking 'progression' in terms of trick difficulty. There were a few other aerialists that did the same thing, just not on video.
However, this was also close to the time that aerials experienced its downfall.
Until the early '80s, aerials was badass. It was basically big air... with people slinging tricks, bigtime pros, huge money and dudes winning shit like corvettes in contests. The hot dogging movement was fun as fuck - most of it was dudes who partied their brains out, and focused on the artistic side of skiing vs. the mathematic side where more rotations wins.
However, things got crazy. As soon as you hit trips and quads.... people start dying/getting paralyzed. There was a rash of big contests where people got really hurt / dead. Kids everywhere were mimicking these pros in the air sites (read: parks of yesterday) and dying / paralysis / injuries ensued in droves.
The insurance companies wouldn't touch it as this happened. Air sites everywhere were mowed down, and rules of who was allowed to do tricks cropped up everywhere. FIS stepped in.
By going to far with the human capabilities for survival, we created a sport that needed a high level of regulation in order to keep the people interested in it safe. As such, Aerials is what you see it as today. Sanctioning bodies won't allow quads because they realize the carnage associated with letting athletes get that one more flip in. Nobody wants to get into it because its to hard for anyone without a super rich background to get the level of training necessary to get to an olympic level.
So I dislike this aspect of the sport, because its already led to a downfall of one freestyle movement... I don't want to see history repeated and let it be the downfall of another.
So that is where I'm coming from, if it makes sense.
