What's everybody doing these days?
What kind of education have you received prior to your current position?
Making good money?

I'll start off,I'm a pilot at a regional airline.
Currently 3.5 years worth of professional training(1.5 through high school)
1 year of college and associates degree in Aviation Technology
Pay is not great but I'm done with the shittiest part of my career(building flight time)

Super excited for what's to come

Nahh I mean doing repairs or even custom work would be cool too. I don't know how I would feel about being in a production line turning the same 3 wrenches all day.

Just a guess, but I'd say start with reading. A lot of reading. Beer brewing has so much to be said about it you could spend days reading about history and technique and methods and such and never reread the same piece of information. Get to know the subject well.

Next I'd say you should do some homebrews. Maybe some easy kits at first then start further and further up the chain of ingredients (ex malting your own grain) until you really get a handle of what brewing beer is about. Experimenting would be a next logical step, it will increase your knowledge so much more once you've made a lot of mistakes and finally made a decent brew from your own recipe.

After that I dunno. Maybe find a job as an assistant at a small brewery where you can have a good mentor and get some good hands on experience at a brewery scale. Or at least some weekend volunteering or something. I'm sure after that you'll have met enough people to know the right contacts to get a more involved job.

Just a guess though.

i go to school in syracuse NY, and have no clue what i want to specialize in. liking radiology because it's interesting to me and the lifestyle would allow for plenty of skiing time

Good choice. I've know several tele radiologist, and they work anywhere they want from a computer, make great money, and get to ski quite a bit.

They do have complaints about their profession, but everyone does in every career.

yeah if you ask anyone, theyll find something wrong with their career for sure. but yeah, radiology is cool. more than enough money, laid back hours compared to most other medical fields too

I started homebrewing in college and learned quite a bit before I graduated. I started washing dishes at a brew pub while I was looking for a job in my field. Then a tour guide position opened up. I started giving tours and taking part in brew days with the brewers. then every brewer above me left the company at once and I was all of a sudden a brewer. This is a pretty routine way of people getting in.

For anyone looking to get into it, breweries don't need to hire brewers generally. they need help washing kegs, packaging, giving tours or medial shit they don't have time for. that's generally where you need to start. once there ask and learn everything you can.

Current studying Mechanical engineering.

Have a side job as a Volleyball referee. Get paid ~$70/game. That game includes JV (best of 3) and varsity (best of 5). Those last acouple hours, usually from 5pm-9pm so it works that I can ref after school most times. Then I ref tournaments on Saturdays every once in a while that pay $100-$200/ tournament.

Works nicely and gives me gas and food money!

I work part time for my family's landscaping business throughout the year. I basically move brick all day. During the summer, I work construction for a pool company and build pools. My co-workers are all pretty chill and I make more money and a majority of the kids my age which is nice.

I'm going to school next year for mechanical engineering technology. Eventually, I would love to move out west and get a job in the ski industry, but the likelihood of that is slim.

It is in my opinion very necessary to decrease workload but there are definitely times where there is over-reliance on it for some people. It's a necessary evil.

I'm a welder and a QC/QA Manager for a Manufacturing company. I do certified work for high pressures and also do specialty metalwork for a gun manufacturer. I also do a lot of work for my home hill in terms of repairing their chairlifts and snowmaking system. I work really hard but I love the trade. I get paid really well, I work with badass craftsmen, make awesome stuff and have a really loose schedule since we're deliverable based so I have greater freedom to chase pow or go fishing etc.

Doing the actual hand work as well as handling managerial duties is pretty cool. I get to have big meetings and lunches with clients and but don't have to live my life in an office, nor do I have to be a shop monkey 100% of the time.

Currently got a job at a ski centre so I don't have to ask parents for money, pretty decent pay plus 25% off ski tickets so not complaining

frank9190I'm a surveyor. Right now I'm working in a gold mine in Nunavut, Canada in a 2 weeks on 2 weeks off, fly in fly out schedule. they're nothing better then 2week off every 2 week. I just came back from work and I'm heading to kicking horse Tuesday for a week.

Such a good schedule for a young guy, plus working up in the Arctic sounds super cool to me

Im in chiro school and am going to do the radiology residency after I graduate. Its 3 extra years of school but after that its easy street and will make such good money for such easy work right off the bat.

Yeah I Work for SANA, it's the construction company who built all the road, dike, and stuff for agnico at their meadowbank site. Agnico have a lot of exploration project right now and I'm pretty sure they will need a lot of people when everything will be a go

Currently work at an indoor trampoline park in the winter and over summer I'm a pools and maintenance supervisor at a waterpark. I deal with all the pumps, slides, filters, chemicals and anything else that goes wrong. I had to get a certified pool and spa operators license for it too.

I have 2 1/2 years at the university and got burnt out and just completed my EMT basic a couple weeks ago and I'm gonna do my advanced the next few months. I'm debating whether or not to continue on with my paramedic and work in a hospital/with an ambulance company/go through the fire academy and become a firefighter or to go back and finish up my journalism degree and find something with that.

decent pay, all the benefits and all the time off. Tried to get my wife to get her PHd while she was in grad school but for some reason she wanted a masters to teach secondary education. now she says she needs her PHd to teach. figures.

BrenoneI'm the chief financial officer of a real estate development company in NYC. We build residential and mixed use buildings. I actually love it. Yeah sometimes it's a grind but truthfully that's the part I like. It's challenging and every deal has its own quirks and different moving parts.

I went to a state university (actually started at community college) for accounting and worked for a midsize firm for 4 years in the real estate audit group. I then went on to work for one of the clients I worked on who is/was a large developer & owner. I've since gone on to work for 2 other developers as I moved up the food chain to CFO. It took about ten years.

The money I make now is more than I ever anticipated and is pretty good for some schmuck who started at community college. It affords me to go skiing wherever I want that's for sure.


Thats awesome man. Real estate development is definitely my dream gig, I interned for a small broker in college which was pretty cool, but development seems way more interesting.
.. currently doing fund accounting for about 7 months now which is pretty brutal. Going to start applying to new jobs and network pretty heavily over the next few months to make the leap to a real estate type role.

Cabinet maker, i love the work, and my old man always told me " If you love your job, you will never work a day in your life" Pay is decent for a 17 yr old. Yes im still in high school. Im doing the work program so i only go to school 4 hours a day and then go to work

Im a fabricator in a structural steel shop, didn't receive any formal training, just needed work went to a temp agency, got hired on doing grunt work. Any time that we were on break, or a lot of the time during lunch, I would just practice my welding, I eventually got a handful of certifications and got put on as a fabricator. Pretty cool job, but i definitely do not want to be working there a year from now.
