parkplaygroundTo tell if someone is good just by looking at them is fairly easy for me atleast. Therre is just a demeanor to a good park skier, despite their gear (for the most part) that really stands out from worse skiers. Its just that look that shows they know what they are doing and know how to throw down. Maybe its the way they ski to the feature, or the way they stand in their skis, flexing their boots, but something about it is easy to see for me as far as I can tell. Obviously there are exceptions but a GOOD park skier will stick out imo
Dennis_ReynoldsI feel like you can tell how good someone is just by how they straight air a jump
ianrich511Another thing is how people hold their poles.
Op.Double post, but I'm really curious about this. What do you mean?
parkplaygroundthey hold them comfortably. I know what he means because I've seen it. The poles arent used for traditional skiing, so they arent held like they are technically meant to be by skiers who do not use them conventionally.. worse skiers use hold their poles the way they are supposed to be held, or hold them the way that many park skiers do but look uncomfortable doing so. Not sure if my explanation is good but I get what hes saying.
dyerPossibly by what skis they are on

FriedRicehestras are a dead give away for me, i dont care how rich you are no one is spending that much money on gloves
Op.Hestra's cheaper stuff is nice. I got these for $100. I think I've seen a gaper or two with Hestras but its rare.
Dennis_Reynoldsgo drive daddys lambo
MarcuntusMeh I rock some pretty "steezy" gear, and The best trick you'll see me throw is a shifty or a 0 spin tail grab.
But I'm a full time working weekend warrior and would prefer to spend my money in the industry supporting the brands that are at the core of the sport I love.
DeforestationThought we already established he's in middle school?
Borty10+ years ago you honestly could. It's been a slow change but I still forget sometimes. I'll see a kid all decked out in the steeziest shit drop in and then side jump.
Everyone has twin tips now. You can get fucking hello kitty twin tips these days. Gone are the days of the random hand me down pants/jacket or snow suit. All the noobs are repping saga, and other stuff now.
Hell, even if you saw somebody with twin tips at one point you could be fairly certain they skied park.
PoLaRpEaKThis. I buy new gear when it breaks. Ski pants lasted 7 years, helmets at 10 years, skis/bindings are on their 9th season, jackets 3-4 years old now, stickers on helmet are 10 years old and mostly fallen off by now, boots were like 8 years old and just fell apart this year. I think you can tell a good skier by their demeanor and humbleness.

LonelyWell 90% of the park skiers at my mountain don't know newschoolers so I guess anything is possible
.otto.well shit you better go out there and share the good news of doug bishop
newschoolers needs some evangelists

Op.I saw a guy in a banana costume lay out a huge backie on a 50-foot jump... No, you can not tell anything by a person's gear.
FriedRicei know thats not a big deal to you but thats some revolutionary tech shit to me so save me your recommendations plz

NaptownI totally agree with you about buying shit when it breaks, but idk how you make skis last 9 seasons. I am on the east coast and literally cant make a pair of skis last one season. I am not that good. Hit rails 90% of the time. But like shit I ripped the edge on my soul riders out in literally 6 days of skiing.
daxtonstop making threads
freeskibum82ok.. ill bite..
i dont think you can tell how good someone is by just what they wear but how they carry themselves and how well they can ski. We all have seen the kids in the latest saga gear, tall tees that are soaking wet and all they do is hike the same rail all day. Does that make them "good"? maybe according to them they are good but how well can they ski outside the park? It's all opinion based..
I think what you wear is more a reflection on what you believe in than how good you are. Im always buying the latest gear to try it out so i know how well it performs so i can be a better ski equipment advisor. Someone may look at me and say "he's trying to hard" because i typically just hit rails without any spins on or off. That doesnt make me a bad skier..
KravtZPark skiing doesn't make someone a good skier
