eheathWhy are you closed on sunday, one of the busiest ski days of the week?
TheyCallMeElderthey're Mormons.
ButteryLlamaWould like to preface this entire thread by saying THAT I HAVE NO ACTUAL AFFILIATION WITH THE RESORT. THESE ARE MY PERSONAL OPINIONS AND VIEWS.
Short answer though; they're Mormons.
.lenconI live about 1.5 hours away and my friend went and told me to save my money. He said it sucks, it's flat, and the mountain is tiny.
eheathOh, ha. I thought you worked for them, I know the owners are Mormon, which is why I posed that question.
ButteryLlamaIf you live 1.5 hours in any direction, save your money. There are better places to ski.
The networking was a side gig (I was never officially employed by them). As far as the liftie job went, I quit after the first day after realizing it made no sense financially.
To slightly expand on the religion issue, I would say the main image they seem to be pushing to the public is, "hey, we are a family establishment that still believes in the sanctity of the sabbath." Also, with the general population of Logan being primarily Mormon, they would more than likely deal with a lot of backlash from locals if they were open Sundays. There are a lot of locals who are not too happy about the resort being built and are looking for any reason to vocalize their discontent...
That, and their own personal religious beliefs.
eheathAgain I understand all of this, its just mind blowing they wouldn't be open on the second biggest ski day of the week. Mormons love making money but they do some stupid shit that can hold back their business. Cherry peak will probably not be open next year.
SFBv420.0is there any decent terrain above the resort?
open boundries?
any decent sustained vert sik gnarz
anything to make me wanna use one of my freebies?
ButteryLlamaI'm giving them a 70% chance of opening next year. The snow conditions currently are awful. They don't even have a base on the upper half of the mountain and their top lift is not going to even be opperational this year because they didn't get it set in time.
There actually is a lot of really great skinning/snowmobiling up around that area that will now be accessible as side country. Some decent cliffs and pillows. However, everything aside from where they've been making snow is bare.
If you do have a free pass for this season I would wait until later in the year and hope they get some more snow and give them some time to get the rest of their park set up.
