Skiing with your family

Yo NS, was wondering how many of you guys ski with your family on a regular basis?

My dad is a crusty old ski dude so he's fun to shred with but i can imagine having to ski with family who don't know what they're doing could be tedious as fuck

My mom and dad are moderate skiers at best. Sometimes it is irritating to ski with them when they won't even go through a super wide glade trail, but all in all a run or two with them is nice. Definitely beats family game night!

My pops and I will ski all day together when we go out west. Most of the time hes on the hill working, so we dont ski together very much at our home mountain.

Parents used to live in Boulder, so my dad would go skiing a lot in his 20's/early 30's. He grew up in New Hampshire so skiied a decent amount as a kid but at a super small hill. Mom had never skiied as a kid, started out west but never skiied that much.

Dad- Decent skiier, will do anything on the mountain, has to stop a lot (bad back, hamstring) decent to ski with for the most part.

Mom- Very slow, both knees are bad, won't do moguls, glades, unless they are basically flat. Scared but I understand why (had surgery on both knees).

Little Sister- Used to be the biggest pussy skiing. Can shred pretty well now though, not a great skier but not terrible. Still terrified of the park.

Littler Sister- Used to pizza down the mountain at ~30mph when she was younger, had no fear. For some reason she's scared of everything now, and switched to snowboarding -.-

I ski with my family a few times a year. The normal routine is 3 runs then drinks at the bar. Repeat

My Fam doesn't even ski, soooooo ... Yeah.. I'm im only one in the Fam. So when I tell them about how jibBing was, they're like, uhhhh that's cool :D

Yeah that must suck, good thing about my dad skiing is we can nerd out about ski stuff together, also means i can do stupid shit like walk around the house in ski boots and not get told off lol

My friends and I used to rip with my dad when we were younger (in 8th grade or so). My friends are all snowboarders and I was the lone skier. My little brother would try his best to keep up. My dad used to smoke us. He's had a few bad crashes and gotten older, so he's slower now but still a fine skier. My mom tore her ACL skiing and has become pretty cautious.

Now, two of my younger brothers are in college out of state, so we rarely ski together. The one closest in age is a good skier. He tries to keep up with me in the park. The youngest is still in high school and is a skiing instructor.

I love shredding with my family. I'm more loose and laid back when they're around.

I'm 14 so I can't drive up and ski alone so I'm always with my family. It sucks so much. I try to go to the park as much as possible but if I want to ski woods or something they come and i have to wait for like 15 mins at the bottom. I have to make so many friends at the mountain to make sure I have someone to ski with besides them at all times but it doesn't always happen.

My grandma and grandpa are both 78 years old and they ski very well. My grandpa is tough as nails and he still takes some pretty hard bails. I ski with them a lot... never know what tomorrow will bring.

My dad is a big dude, he rides pretty mellow, and my sister is just a huge outlier in the family, she hates it.

My mom is a patroller at Granite Peak, she ski bummed in Steamboat for a couple years and she just rips. I ski with her whenever she works.

My dad is 50 and can do front 2's out of rails and can even hit some medium sized jumps switch.

I tend to go out skiing by myself. I make friends out there, and some of them are newschoolers. The people I meet try to help me with some tricks and I try to help them! Hope this helps!!!

Hardly any of my friends ski (one of them skis a bit but he lives in a different city now) and it sucks because I live in Scotland most skiers are mega gapers and i'm basically the only one at the jumps so its hard meeting new people

I'm the only one in my family that skis. My parents used to cross country ski, but that's about it. Actually, my dad did go snowboarding with me a handful of times when I was a kid.

My dad is 50 and can still rip tree lines better than anyone I know. He taught me how to ski and I'm grateful he did or else I may have not picked up the sport.

My mom on the other hand, has absolutely no interest primarily because of the cold and fear of breaking something.

My little brother is pretty good but he is on the slow side.

Overall I ski with my dad almost weekly. I usually do a boys week with him and some of his buddies out in Utah - it's a damn good time seeing your dad do his best to not get wasted in front of his kid.

I still ski quite frequently with my parents. That's because atleast once a season my parents book a place at a resort for a week or so and I go with them. Sometimes I ski alone, since my mom isn't quite a beginner but she still doesn't ski that fast and is somewhat scared of big speeds, my dad basically just follows her for company. Although when she's not with us I try to ski with my dad and wait for him if needed (he's more experienced and he introduced me to skiing) because for a year now I'm studying at a different city and you know... spend some quality time I guess, he appreciates it.
On the other side, my parents aren't really excited about my passion for extreme sports and they always tell me to not ski that fast, to be more careful, they even make me promise to them to not do jumps, etc before I go skiing on my own. It can be quite frustrating if I must be honest... it's not the best support, if it's any. But still I'm thankful because they give me the money, except for the gear, for which they always tell me I get the most expensive things, but as a matter of fact - I don't. They just don't know the price trends.

Quite a bit, everyone in the family skis pretty well so we all try to make it out every now and then. I skied with my dad Tuesday and today which was fun. Some people aren't able to rip some laps with their parents/siblings so I think its a pretty special thing to be able to do so. Sharing pow turns with siblings or the ones who brought you into this world is pretty damn magical, Xmas day is certainly forever burned into my mind.

I pretty much only ski with my family. I feel bad because my dad is a good skier and he is the one who got me into skiing, but he doesn't really ski park and just follows us around. My brother is pretty much as good as me, and prob better at park. Then there is my mom and sister, and they just suck.

I ski with my dad as much as I can! When I was younger he would take me and my older brothers out to ski every weekend. Best fucking thing going when I was growing up. He works a lot now but whenever we get to go out it's really nice. He's not the best skier, pretty gaperish but I don't give a fuck. I love skiing with him(:

I also used to ski with my brother. He was really into park back in the day and taught me some stuff. Now he doesn't ski anymore. I'm pretty sure he's still active on Newschoolers though.

My papi is a killer skier, he has a nice style of skiing as well, since he grew up skiing when people actually knew how to ski haha! I don't get to ski with him that much because he works a lot but hopefully Ill be able to make some more laps with him this year before I head off to college and what not.

My dad is the only one in the fam that really skis used to be low-key proish and there is no where he wont ski, and my mom and sister go out like a day every few seasons

My dad is an avid skier and its nice. Going on family ski trips is interesting though, just have edibles since you cant smoke.

i ski with my parents probably once a month... because i grew up a racer my dad hates "that jibber shit i'm into now" but when i learned how to 3 he was pretty stoked. i always ski pow/backcountry with my dad though. he rips, and my mom can keep up pretty well almost all the time except for in the really deep stuff cause she's pretty short and doesn't really know how to handle her skis

when I first got into skiing I would only go on Christmas break, or whenever we went to Calgary to see family. since my family didn't want to make the 45 minute drive out to the small hill close to regina. I would only ever go out with my brother and my dad, although my dad stopped coming and it ended up being my brother getting in the most turns we could at sunshine, louise or norquay. the last time I skied with my brother it was at COP and he tore his ACL. we were supposed to go to Sunshine the next day :(
since then I've taken one trip out to Calgary to ski for 3 days by myself, and been to the hill outside my city 3 or 4 times. so basically I don't progress and I enjoy the skiing I can do a lot.

Whenever I go skiing with my family they follow me to the park and just stand at the bottom and cheer whenever I do a feature. Love em to death but its annoying as hell. Plus its hard to earn street cred when your mom is gaping out at the bottom of the hill while yelling "that's my son" every five seconds.

Live on the east coast and grew up racing cross country with the family. When I switched over my parents revealed that my mom used to race when she was a kid and my dad was a ski bum for a couple of years working patrol over at Lake Louise. They won't ski anywhere around home cause its too small but if we ever go on a vacation (Once every two years) my dad will bring out the 201cm straight skis with his old snowsuit. See him ski is like a timewarp cause his style and skiing hasn't changed a bit. He complains when he skis glades because the moguls are too close together and his skis don't fit.

Its some fun family times.
