but what reason do we have to believe in god, other than that we have been told to all our lives, people believe that jesus was the messiah because it says so in a book, and they believe in that book because in the book it says that the book contains god's word, so what sense does that make, if david copperfield came out and said im really the second coming of the lord, thats how i perform all of these 'miracles' would you believe him

Ill refer back to schweitzerskier and what she said about faith. To believe there is not a God requires just as much faith, because then you have to believe something came out of litteraly nothing. So to each his own, both evolution and creationism require a butload of faith to believe in.

actually, evolution is 100% proved legit. Microevolution that is. Macroevolution is where the assumptions and theories come in.

thats the dumbest thing you can ever say, that something is proven, 100%, because a thousand years ago it was 100%proven legit that the earth was flat, it was just a given, people believed so strongly in it that they would go as far as to kill someone that had an opposing idea. so if our idea of whats fact has changed that much in a thousand years whose to say that in a thousand more our ideas of trutgh will even resemble what we have now

no, see, microevolution is proven. ask ANY IE or Creationist believing person with half an education adn tehy will tell you that. microevolution is proven, we see it all around us. You simply cannot argue against it. (different species changing over time)

MACROevolution IS a lot of theory and can be argued against. (people evolved from a single celled organism)

god existing is soo dumb. the bible was probably written way back by some drunk dude with nothin better to do. science has proved the bible wrong so many times. in old testament there was something that said men shall/can not venture into the heavens until death for the heaven is god place but yet we go to space so they revise it. how could god just appear and say hey i'll make the universe now i'll put two people on earth and they will make a civilization. if you think about it the bible makes less sense then willy wonka. I have faith, faith that there is no god and that we are simply carbon based life that has developed self awareness and needs to justify its existence with a greater purpose on earth. we have all had pets die, where do they go? into the back woods and rot in the ground. Im sorry to say there is no god. inm sure jesus existed he was prob a great man who strived to better the lives of people but he wasnt gods son he was simply a great man.

I am actually preatty interested in this microevolution, dont take this as im trying to atack you or anything. Just an honest question. What does Microevolution say about how everything began? Is that the big bang theory or what im not really familiar with it.

microevolution is the way things evolve within their own species (humans losing their tailbones, shit like that). This isn't something that deals with the beginings of everything, just how things evolve within their own species.

macroevolution is the evolution theories that deal with the begining of everything, and deal with how one species evolves into another.

how about the creation of a living thing. science hasnt proven that. of course there is the evolution of things because of how their environment changes, but the whole beginning hasnt been shown

ive said this at least a thousand times on this site, but anyways, the big bang theory isnt in any way shape or form a theory that describes how everything began, it describes a cycle that the universe goes through, of expanding and contracting over and over, if it is true we have allmost no way of ever finding out how many cycles the universe has been through or how this whole thing came around

now that just plain isn't true. In some cases like macroevolution, YES, it does take faith. However, in MANY cases, science does prove things, and it requires very little 'faith', as it's easy ot see that it is true.

Religion on the otherhand is completely faith based. there is no proven anything. that's why it's called 'having faith'.

Religion in my mind is something that should be taken with a large grain of salt. the lessons it teaches about being kind and living a good life are awesome and should be followed. However, there are MANY things that should not be taken as sctrictly as they are. As I've said many times before, religion blinds people.

well if you dont believe that theres a god then why is it important to live life according to a set of 'morals' because where would a set of universal rules come from except from a higher power, and if theyres no god then it doesnt matter if you follow your 'morals'

I dont think we should even know if there is God or not. Being catholic I do believe there is some higher power. Its like the universe....the human mind cant manage some of the thoughts people have. Like if the universe is forever expanding...whats it expanding into? And if the universe has an end to it, whats on the other side? We may never know, its just something we have to believe in

God being a creating God, the proof is his Creation, ie you me and every other life form on this Earth...
as for micro eveolution, it is proven and accepted, but macro is impossible... macro is the fish reptile monkey ape us thing, and its completely erroneous, even without faith in any creating God: a fish cannot make it out of the water, survive and reproduce, at all: the basis of that evolution is that the fish is evolving by natural selection, to escape a predator... but to make it out of the water it needs: to lose its fins for legs, change respiratory systems, change its nervous system, change its musculatory system and its digestive system, all whilst escaping the predator that its evolving away from, or for whatver reason for that matter; its impossible to change those systems in the most infinite way whith the fish surviving, let alone it being better off...
so anyways, the evolution theory, so far, does not explain much, and all you need to do is look around, at the perfect order and precision of things, think about yourself, about how complicated you are and how you are created in Gods image (of all the animals, we are the only ones that create (you know what i mean), know the difference between right and wrong, realise we are going to die, and have a concept of God). most scientists that are true to themselves end up believing in some sort of Creating God (like Einstein did)
that is all the proof you need,the complexity, precision and order of the world (living, not secular), your own existence and the marvel of Gods Creation.

^this is where faith comes in: if i were to tell you i know the answer, i would be lying: i don't.
but the fact is that we, right now, exist, and that there is no explanation that men can come up with for that, but God, through his word (yes, the Bible, the book, the myths,the stories, the morals whatever you want to call it) has reavealed how we came about (read genesis 1) and that he created us...
now, i kinda know what you are gonna say, because i have this talk alot with people, but faith in God has not blinded me: fact is, no explanation for your and my existence by men explains reasonably how you and i are here, and how you and i can be such marvels of creation without a creating God behind it...

im sorry if this offends some, these are my beliefs, im not forcing this on anyone
