I want to detune my edges but I don't have a proper file for it. Can I just go hard af with a gummy stone or should I stop being a cheap bitch and buy a file?
Question: when you detune is it just to dull the 90 degree angle of the edge or do you go more than just dulling that, to make the edge completely smooth?
Also I just detuned some old skis and didn't have a gummy stone so I used some sandpaper to smooth it out. Is that not a good idea?
The next skis i'll be detuning are brand new ON3P's so I don't want to fuck up.
A great file kite with a 90 degree angle should not be more than 15 dollars. Use the finest grade file, sometimes referred to as a diamond stone or a tungsten file with fine grade side. I have a small fine filing rock i can carry on the mountain works for anything-very cheap!
