So late November in 2014 hurt my knee in lacrosse, went to the doctor got an mri and had a partial tear in my meniscus, but it didn't hurt too bad and the doctor said I really didn't need surgery. Skied a couple of days very lightly and didn't hit anything, and then started physical therapy to get ready for lacrosse season. My doctor gave me a nice orthopedic brace to wear for playing sports so I used that for a couple of months until the pain stopped, worked my ass off in the gym all summer and fall in the gym and now I feel like I'm almost at 100%, I have a few days on snow this year and it feels great, I'm taking it slow but both of my knees get sore after skiing. I feel like I'm too strong to wear the orthopedic brace, but I don't want to injure it again. Should I wear the brace my doctor gave me or buy compression sleeves for both of my knees?
I use compression sleeves on my knees. Dislocated patella on one and torn meniscus on both. Your knees will get sore but it happens less and less. The stronger you get the better it feels too. Take it slow to begin with I guess. But meniscus isn't that big of a deal so I'd just not push it too far.
Disclaimer I'm not a doctor and that is just my opinion based off my own experience.
