Snowskates?

looking to perhaps purchase a snowskate just to dick around with around campus this winter, and wondering if anyone has experience with them.

The two styles im looking at are the flat decks with grooves on the bottom or the ones with trucks and little sleds instead of wheels. on paper the ones with trucks seem like they would be closer to an actual skateboard, but do they actually work or are they just shitty?

like with the flat bottom ones I feel like I would be better off just taking the wheels off my old deck and using that

That doesn't work well at all. The tails of skate decks are too flat when they're placed flat on the ground and you can hardly pop.

The kind with grooves (single deck) are better for skate-style tricks like flips or slides. I've even seen footage of urban hit on snowskates.

Bidecks (snowskate with ski on bottom) are more similar to snowboards. You can carve, which is super fun, and you can also do slides and flip tricks - although they're much more difficult on a bideck. I find popping nearly impossible on my bideck, but it's a cheap, poorly made one.

bi decks are shitty, and i tried one of these and it was quite underwhelming as well. I wouldn't waste your money. do urban on your skis.

my buddy has the flat bottom one and its better for tricks but the one with the ski underneath is better to go places. I doubt you can ollie on the one with the ski underneath but ppl do tricks with the flat ones.

I skate whenever it's a bit boring to ski. Like if it hasn't snowed in a while or its icy. I have a 39" lib tech and it's the only way to go. It's seriously so much fun and great exercise. They make bigger skates for powder but if there's powder I'm skiing.

my friends and i have had fun for years with snowskates, doin rails in the backyard and finding lines around the woods and neighborhood etc.

only ones we like have been discontinued though, the Burton Approach-- it has a little bit of stack height, edges, and a fast bottom, sorta best of both worlds in our opinion.. .the flat ones always seem so slow and the ones with snowblades underneath are a little much for us

Never tried a bi-deck but they look tight. I have an Icon Matt Plays board and I fucking love it. I think I've had it since I was probably 14, and I'm almost 19 now. Hit urban on it, tons of backyard seshes. Honestly never gets old for me.

thats just a quick search from google, a company called fuse makes some more legit looking ones but I just read a review that said you basically need ice to ride them so I'll probabaly just get a single deck one. Thanks for the help people

I rode one of these for years when I was growing up. They are so fun. Good all around. You can beat them up and do flip tricks for the most part.
