Whats going on in Oregon

A militia has taken over the wildlife refuge center in Oregon to protest the government who has supposedly been wrongfully jailing and fucking up the lives of the Hammond family. At least that is what I gather from reading some of these articles. Anyone live near there who can give an eye witness account of whats going on?


Also people on the interweb are of course pissed that this isn't a race issue and because these dudes are white rather than black this is not being considered as serious as what was in Ferguson or Baltimore. Also since they are white not Muslim people are not deeming them as terrorists.


Is this the beginning of the revolution? Are people all over the country going to start standing up against the federal government? Or are these just some angry ol white folks who should go smoke some recreational marijuana and chill out?

Pretty much every person in the bundy militia should be in jail right now.

one of them is related to cliven bundy? lmao i stopped taking them seriously as soon as i read that.

for those who don't know who cliven bundy is. he's a "rancher" in southern NV who illegally used (and is using) federal lands for cattle grazing, and has refused to pay around ~1mil USD in fees that he owes. he was letting his cattle graze on FEDERAL LAND under a permit, and didn't renew his permit, and hasn't since 1994, even though he has absolutely no right to the federal land.

this jackass says that he believes he belongs to the sovereign state of nevada (which is not a real thing, no state is sovereign by definition). he's basically doing whatever he wants on federal land and claiming some bullshit about "states rights" that don't exist, and that DEFINITELY don't exist on federal land. Cliven Bundy hired a "militia" from Arizona who call themselves the Praetorian Guard to protect himself from the feds trying to reclaim the land that Bundy is using illegally. i don't think Bundy realized that the Praetorian Guard were the bodyguards for high ranking officials in the Roman Empire. the dude is making a mockery of himself.

it's the same flawed argument that people give who want to "take back" federal land for the states. hello, dumbasses, federal land was never state land in the first place. you can't "take back" something that was never rightfully yours. they will get nowhere with their arguments.

you are still allowed to use federal land after it has been allocated as a wildlife refuge, you just have to obtain a permit, and these people just don't want to get a permit and instead blame their misfortunes on the government. these "protesters" have no case. they are fucking idiots.

If I remember correctly, these guys are "sovereign citizens" aka kooks. They're the people who instigate shit with the police and ramble on about their rights while filming themselves...while clearly completely misunderstanding the laws. I read somewhere that the part of Oregon this is taking place in is full of these kinds of whackjobs. I know cops dont really like these guys because they're pretty anti-government and given the right circumstance would think nothing of shooting a cop to get out of a speeding ticket or similar.

They call themselves "Y'all Qaeda" and they're on a "Yee-Had".


Also I wouldn't call them 'terrorists', they've been pretty non-violent and haven't really done anything to incite terror. It's just SJW bullshit to call them terrorists until they've at least blown up a school-bus.

Obviously these people do not ski. Seems like they must not have jobs either. We have the best snow in a couple of years now and that's what's going on in Oregon. Between that and trying to spend some time with my family and making money I haven't really even had enough time to figure out why anyone would go to Burns in the winter.

I feel like this law doesn't apply to what happened during the occupy protests? When during even the height of the occupy movement did anyone take control of federal property while armed and threaten violence if the government came to seize it back? I'm curious if it did happen... I'm fairly certain it didn't.

In any case, the occupy protests' overall cause was to shine light on the fact that big banks and wall street completely screwed us all, and instead of being punished, just got daddy money. It was akin to some rich bitch teenager crashing the car after just picking up a bunch of molly and speeding off to the justin beiber concert only to have daddy pay for the damages AND get them a new car as well as a flight to vegas for their birthday.

Wall Street acted like some fuckstick on "My Sweet 16", and the occupy protests were formed to expose it...

Meanwhile the Oregon 'Militia' is acting like some kid on "My Sweet 16" having a tantrum rather than exposing the issues between private landholders and BLM/Federal land agencies.

Occupy didn't do anything. I work on WS literally 5 blocks away from their protests. They are a joke and the vast majority of them don't understand thew orld of finance besides the CNN news headlines.

OPB interviewed one of the militia men yesterday and he was straight talking out his ass about issues that had been resolved in the supreme court over 100 years ago and almost claiming manifest destiny over the lands that the federal government have possession of.

He couldn't answer any of the questions that the reporter asked in, the OPB interviewer could hardly hold his shit together.

Thing is though, we've been at war with muslim extremists since before 2001 and we know they'll stop at nothing to try and get us someway or another.

It's an uncomfortable truth but the amount of attacks the FBI and similar have foiled that we know about is still really fucking high.
