Prototype_1I've decided that I should. There is a lot of alcoholism in my family, and I tend to embarrass myself when I drink. I can't pace myself. No matter how hard I try. Last night I found myself in a familiar situation; wasted an hour after I told myself "1 beer". This seems to happen everytime I drink, and it's lead to a lot of tension in my family and in my life. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Isis_rocksOk. Alcoholism is not the same thing as being an alcoholic. Alcoholism is the inability to stop drinking when you start, and the urge to do so often. Being an alcoholic is acting upon those urges to the extent that it causes some sort of damage.

PeppermillRenoBlow is huge with older middle aged people. Just because they don't want to encourage their kids to do it doesn't mean they'd turn down a line if offered one.
I didn't realize until I was part of a bachelorette party a couple weeks ago that people in their 40s and 50s loved that shit when they drank. Hadn't thought about it until recently when I realized just about everyone I know and am friends with who isn't friends with my parents would definitely say yes if I offered them a line.
(Remember powdered coke isn't really addictive only crack is no functioning adult in their 40s will develop a habit unlike opiates.)
I don't really like coke either but it definitely helps you keep your shit together and not drink too much and stay social when you are on a bender that lasts a long time.

DrailYou do realize that alcohol is considered one the most damaging drugs in the world right? I drink - a lot - but that doesn't mean I'm blind to reality and truths. psychedelics are 99% less detrimental than alcohol. I'm not even sure how you could begin to argue otherwise.
One of the worst things going on in North American society is the lack of acceptance for non drinkers. Someone who is at a party and NOT drinking is looked at in a very odd way. Especially when you consider how negative people are to cigarettes and those that smoke them. Why so much negativity to smokers, yet almost the complete opposite for drinking?

PCPRINCIPALI've watched alcohol destroy successful people. You can certainly excel in life and get hammered regularly at the same time but you'll end up being a boring grumpy asshole when you are sober because you rely on alcohol to let loose and have fun. You'll also start to forget about people because they don't party and eventually you'll create a complex that tells you that you are better than people who dont party and drink. But really you are just a boring grumpy asshole who is grumpy because 1/3 of your paycheck was lost in a span of 5 hours that you can hardly remember.
I have people talk shit becaue I drop a $100 on a 1/2 oz that will last me close to 3 weeks and then I can watch those same people blow $200 on taxis and booze in one night of partying. It makes no fucking sense.
