I just saw this movie at a 70mm roadshow showing in Portland. I recommend anyone that likes film and remotely likes Tarentino to go see it in 70mm if you can, it was fucking amazing for so many different reasons. If you're not fortunate enough to live near a 70mm theatre, go see it anyways at your local theatre Dec 31. It's a pretty classic tarentino film with a great filmmaking/old school western twist. Everything about this movie IMO was so on point.

Badass movie for sure. Great acting, awesome plot and twists! I watched one of the leaked streams online while sick in bed the other day, but will go see that and the new star wars movie on $5 tuesdays. I wish I could see it in 70mm!

Yeah this movie was made to be seen in theaters, definitely go check it out.

I love how Quentin's movies always get you so involved with the setting that you can never tell that time is passing within the movie quickly.

Related but unrelated, I was half listening to the tv some time ago and there was a segment about this movie and I thought the talk show host said,

"the hate fellate"

and that's all I can think about any time I hear about this movie

Movie was overall really good, I liked Django way better but I feel like that was more of a mainstream project for tarantino. This was like a western resevoir dogs. Channing Tatum seemed out of place a bit. I got a little bored at the crazy amount of dialogue. The filming was out of control good though, some angles were super innovative and something that I've never seen before. A lot of really funny parts saved the tiring dialogue at times. I'd give it a 80%

See I was a bit opposite, I loved all the dialogue, the characters all played the part so god damn good. Channing seemed like a classic tarentino quirky character, he was barely in the movie ya know?

So at the end of the movie I thought that there were more uses of the n word than in Django. So I looked it up and The Hateful Eight contains about half the amount used in Django. I realized that it was used in a much heavier manner than in Django. The term in Django, being that it was during slavery, was just used as an everyday term. Eight used it as an insult more or less. They were so much more pronounced in this movie.

Idk something I was just thinking about.

I don't think I'm gonna be able to make a 70mm showing of this, there's about 5 projectors in the UK that are showing it and none of them are in Sheffield.

I might settle for digital IMAX. It's a little better than 35mm, which is a billion miles better than anything I'll ever watch at home.

Will see it tomorrow in the Eye in Amsterdam, the only place in the Benelux that can show it, sold out till march or so.
