Not making something racist but this entire week there has been an overwhelming large population of Chinese natives and Asians from New Jersey, what's the appeal for people from the Far East to travel al the way over to Jay peak for early season conditions?

Sun Peaks would get like that. 100% occupancy rate just before Christmas, entirely through a group from Vancouver.

You havnt seen the Asian Invasion until youve worked in and around Teton National Park/Yellowstone NP. Ive been told it is their numba won most favorite place to visit.

This is one of my least fav things ever (no offens). Around the holidays just all the time there are an alarmingly large quantity Of tourists that are of Asian decent. Especially at Snugglers notch. They just wander around aimlessly with their day rentals and goggle gaps.





Sad thing thing is these are the people keeping the ski resorts in business

Due to the cultural differences, it's significantly easier for asian folk that don't speak English well to travel in groups. Otherwise you end up with a lot more scenarios like the Japanese woman that accidentally started a police chase because in Japan sirens mean get out of the way, not pull over.
It's incredibly difficult for them to navigate if they don't read/speak English. But now that wealth is growing there, it's also super popular to do westerner things and to know people that speak English natively. Like the more white people you know, the cooler you are which is one of the reasons that they will often ask you to be in their photos with them.

No need to hate for cultural differences. There is an overwhelming amount of drunken australians running around in Japan for them to feel the same way about us. Tour groups in general are annoying, it has nothing to do with them being asian.

There is a group from U of M(ichigan) that comes to Gaylord every year and I'm all for it

Everyone should be able to come out and have a good time

But when 3-4 hundred people that have never skied before flood the hill, shit gets dangerous real quick

As a whole, the Asian Invasion is statistically safer than the weekend the skirt crew comes to town

Bottom line, everyone should know their limits especially those with no experience

People give Asian tourists too much shit. Yeah they're hilarious but I think it's pretty cool that Asians are interested in checking out every part of the world and, as said above, when you know nothing about the language or culture it's much easier to do so in a group with somebody leading you. Everywhere you go you see Asians checking out new places, and aside from wealthy Americans that's not the most common thing. We live on an awesome planet, why not see as much as we can

The amount of Asian families I saw there this summer with 5D's and L glass on them was astounding. But what was more astounding was how many improperly used them. No lens caps or filters, not using or improperly using camera straps, giving their 5 yr old free reign with them, holding them like total Jerrys... I was dumbfounded. I feel bad for judging them but every time I saw it I cringed. And let me tell you, I did a lot of cringing.

The amount of people walking up the run taking pictures was overwhelming, spooked one that was sitting off of the trail beside a frozen ledge by jumping right next to her. it was hilarious

Never really even minded all the Asian kids running around the casinos in Reno during Christmas Break.

Generally speaking if you don't see a few Asians around you are somewhere that sucks.

Wow thats really weird! Once again in a non-racist way I was at Luten mountains in MN last week and asians made up 70% of the population on the hill, it struck me weird as well.

I don't have a problem with the ones that follow the rules and listen to lifties, or even the ones that can't ski well. But the ones that walk up the hill, fall in terrain they shouldn't be in blocking you, run over your tips and tails, and those who ski with their poles out like katanas hitting you and your gear when they go by like a mountain snake or like a freight train in the lift line... Those people piss me off

There are a shit ton that come up to Crystal Mt and Stevens from Seattle. At Crystal there is a really popular run for speed skiing/parachute skiing idk really what to call it. When I was selling tickets this Asian group came up and we're persistently trying to rent parachutes along with their skis. Was the most frustrating shit.

I am growing to really become interested in Chinese culture. I work for a 1st generation chinese guy and his wife, moved here 5 years ago and opened up a very successful restaurant on main st in Bozeman. I work with his parents, as well as a couple of his nephews and nieces who recently immigrated less than 6 months ago. Learning a lot about the differences :)

bigwhite is.... or was? is? whatever, the number one family ski destination or some shit so yeah, we see the occasional bus load of tourists. It's unfortunate that they have literally no idea what's going on mountain wise some of the time, but oh well.

The college I attend has an extremely high number of foreign students. I'd say the asian population is about half the foreign population. Why would so many people find northern Wisconsin appealing. ??

It is cause of the geological stuff in jellystone.

Anyway it's pretty ridiculous (not that they travel, just how many come). I saw one get attacked by an elk once.
