Dealing with sticky rails

If your blades are sharp then it makes it much harder to slide rails. If you dull your blades it might help.

if i remember correctly another member said they use silicon spray and they slide great? not 100% sure on that ,other than that maybe take some wizard wax on the hil with you?

Wizardz wax will work.

However I don't like to encourage people to use it the in park. People get pissed when they go from stick to slick without knowing. It can be almost as dangerous as sticky rails.


You need to mention it to park crew (if they don't care then email management) because it's an easy fix and a safety/fun thing. Guess what is the worst way to fall? Sticking on a rail and eatting shit on it.

Detune your edges underfoot.

Silicone spray works weirdly well, but doesn't last as long as you'd want for a big park. If you are hiking and it gets sticky it would work great

the more people grind them, the smoother they will get. otherwise use wax.

Everyone says that about Andy but he has done a double backflip and loads of urban and other things that might not seem that sketchy especially compared to some more ballsy pros but are actually pretty darn sketchy.

Not only that, but he has the balls to be himself, to be weird(in a good way) and to be creative. Which, in my opinion takes way more balls than any triple cork or quad kink

Check to make sure your skis are properly detuned. A sharp edge with a low bevel can be grabby. Especially if you're trying new things and your weight isn't always perfect and your bases aren't always flat.
If that's not the problem mention it to the park crew.

Are the features rusty? Do they have burrs in them that are noticeable? If they're rusty the park grew and hit it with a wire brush or even a little quick tlc by hand with some sandpaper can make a world of difference. If there are burrs def let the crew know so they can take em down with a file or hit them with the flap disc.

Generally the crews are always checking the features to make sure things are good, but if their are a ton of rails and a bunch of people hitting them, a lot can change. A rail could be perfectly smooth, and somebody could hit it with sharp edges or just edge weird and throw up a huge burr, and that will snag you up real fast depending on how deep.

If the boxes are sticky see if they have or can get some silicone spray to spray down said sticky features. If you're sessioning a a feature, especially in the spring when it's hot as fuck and the suns out, throw some snow on it once in a while to keep it wet and slippery.

Pretty much check your edges first and let the crew know if some of the features are struggling. As much as we'd all love to be able to keep up with everything, sometimes we just don't know about something, or aren't having problems with it. If you bring it to their attention they can at least scope it out.

Be nice about it though. If you roll up and explain the problem, and the exact features you're talking about it will make things go quicker to get them down there to scope it out, and fix the feature if it needs work. If they don't know about it, it's unlikely that will happen unless they catch on that rail or notice a problem, while doing rake runs.
