Dealing with Christmas break hordes

Well, the liftees call it hell-week for a reason. There are weekend-warriors... and then there are the Christmas-break warriors, the worst of them all. Most of these abundant creatures only ski for 5 days and cause as many problems as they can.

How packed does your hill get and how do you deal with the crazy shit that goes down?

Last year we got 5-6 inches of snow at Granite peak the day after Christmas and it was one of busiest, but most exciting days of skiing I have experienced. Skied real snow on a closed run most of the day and it was a whole new experience for me. Parking lot was completely full, Got heckled from the chairlift by Chicago gapers, and ran into a little kid, all in good fun.

This year could be an exact replica as we are supposed to get 3-5 the day after Christmas.

Sounds like you suck at skiing if you can't avoid a little kid. Jesus, learn how to make tight quick carves. Youre part of the problem, not the victim.

Sounds like you're still assuming things. I landed a jump and this kid just zipped right in front of me. It fucking happens. I've seen many videos of other people getting run over. You don't know the details dude. Quit blowing things out of proportion.

Christmas break is always busy at mount jore. Lots of people come up from downstate, even Jersey and NYC, sometimes from outside of the States. This year might not be the case, though, because of the lack of snow.

hahah Why is everyone ripping on him? This thread is so off topic now

I went to Granite last February and it was a blast! I ski at Wilmot and they probably won't be open this christmas. I don't think are hills got crazy busy on christmas(probably because everyone goes to granite lol) , but they are on the weekends for no reason at all. That's why I ski after school when no ones there

Being that I have the Epic pass, the Vail resorts can get pretty rough in Colorado around the holidays!

Easiest thing I do is just Relax, try enjoy myself, and not get frustrated. I use it just to take a couple days of mellow runs of having fun with friends. The crowds will clear in a week and I can go back to standard shredding.

Vail recently added a "lift line wait time" feature to the EpicMix app. which is pretty useful. I can check out lift lines before I even walk out my door to catch the shuttle and figure out where to head!

All the hordes cancelled their reservations due to the weather on the east coast. Today was opening day at my mountain. It was 65 and raining the whole day. But there were no crowds so it was fun af

Mt. Hood has probably one of the worst gaper crowd problems during the break. The mountain is just close enough to Portland that people still can go skiing, but just far enough away from the city that the gaper inclined population wouldn't make it up for more than their 2 day season.

The range of people who go over break vary widely from old guys rocking 210's, kids whose googles are hanging off the back of their helmut, (and the worst of all) kids who have top of the line gear and are lapping the bunny slope, then insult you because they have nicer things.

I usually print some out for the big breaks. We'll get the whole park crew playing. I'll give out additional ones to lifties as well so they can play against each other and have a less shitty day.

I have some carhartt stuff so i don't ruin all my hoodies while building rails, but i generally forget and just ruin all my hoodies working on rails.

Also you can change it pretty damn easily.

But it's fun to play. Give you something to do
