J Skis, "The Friend"

yo guys just wanted to get the word out (not even shilling for jskis, they are just that good), I just bought these skis and they are basically incredible. JLev is honestly making skiing great again and we should support him. From customer service, to construction, to just phenomenal ski geometry, JSkis is the future of the industry.

I skied The Friend 3 straight days in deep snow this weekend and it was so killer, better than any other pow ski ive ever skied (including magic js, bentchetlers, and the opus). The shape is absolutely perfect for all conditions, and i'm even taking it to the east coast to ski icy groomers, its just that fun and versatile.

PM me or bump the thread if you want more details, but honestly you should have no reservations about purchasing this ski if you are looking for something that is an extremely versatile all mountain crusher that is also amazing in deep pow, even if you have to buy it without skiing it first. the friend quite simply has no equal on the market right now

Probably depends on how much money you have. Though if you're looking for a Jski that's an all mtn "ripper," your safest bet is probably The Metal.

real talk though that was a big claim, but i think its true, and ive skied a whole lot of great skis in the 100mm-130mm range. sorry to on3p, moment, icelantic and all the other guys making really killer skis out there. everything has its merits, but this ski is truly special in my opinion. yeah it probably has some rivals, but it stands out in my mind in a different way

as far as pure east coast skis go, you would probably be better served to go with another ski, more in the 100-110mm range

i still would recommend jskis, either the allplay, metal, or vacation. even without skiing on them im sure they are incredible and worth the extra hundred or so over another brand. you will hopefully have these skis for a long time, spend the extra money to get something really exceptional.

as a dickish unrelated commentary, surface watch lifes...not even once. cheap skis ski cheap. real light tho.

aside: just as a person, jlev is putting some real love into these boards and he has your back from day 1. literally email responses from the man himself in under an hour...no one has that kind of dedication and heart in the industry right now

That's not true, and unfair to the other people that are this way. I Just ordered a pair of Praxis skis, and spoke directly to Keith, the founder and owner of the company, throughout the process as he helped me build the ski that he thought would work best for what I told him I wanted it for, and how I wanted it to perform. He even let me customize it for no additional cost.

There are plenty of other small ski company owners out there who I'm sure do the same sort of thing, too.

I'm an owner of both ON3P and J Skis. Skied 60+ days on my whip-its last year and switched to the Kartel 98's this year.

Much more impressed by the performance of my ON3P's. Yes, J Skis has good customer service, but I think ON3P's is just as good. Its all just opinions though, man.
