Removing pole grips?

I need new poles. I was just going to use my dads, but they're soooo long. I tried pulling the grip off and it won't budge. Any ideas?

dude, if u boil it itll expand, then if u freeze it its gonna contract again and just squeeze the pole, thats the dumbest hting ive ever heard. Id say just soak it for an hour or so in some warm soapy water and it should do alot to break the bond of whatever is holding that grip on

Go to a ski shop. They have metal grips that rip the grips off in like 2 seconds. They will even do it for free if you ask nicely.

actually, the way they do it at ski shops, is you put it in a piece of metal like this : (_)
and yank it really hard. works like a charm.

put the grips in a mug of boiling water for 45 seconds then you will pull them off by hand. its that easy

yea cuz dspin, u know while ur soaking the poles in the water, u have to stay there and stare at it to make sure the drain monster doesnt snatch em. Cuz if u watch tv, watch ski movies, or make posts on newschoolers, that drain dwelling sonofabitch will grab it and gobble that shit up.

hot water is the way to do it, I've done it plenty of times. Soap would just make it harder to pull off because you would never get a decent grip on it to pull it off.

Cut off a little of my poles about a month ago.
Here's how you do it:
1) boil water.
2) put rubber grip in boiling water to heat it up.
3) wear an oven mitt, pull really hard on the end.
4) if it doesn't budge, have someone else pull on the other end.
5) it pops off.
6) cut off the excess - make sure it's the right and same amount on both poles
7) put on the grips again (if need be, reheat them) - this is definitely much easier.
8) you've got some nice shorter poles!

But if theres some sort of glue holding the grip on ull need something to break that seal, if the one above doesnt work try adding heavy duty soap to the water and then using a vice

if i remember correctly, my dad uses a small torch to heat the shaft to get rid of any glue. but dont quote me on that

lube that shit up man, take a screw driver, lift up the grip, and let the lubing begin, then jsu turn it off....member though, u gotta work the lube around and into it

a mug of boiling water does the trick for me, some can be removed with just a vice or something to hold the grip and just pulling it.

If you use lube, like some people suggested (don't know if it'll work), then make sure you wash all of it off again afterwards (with soap), so the grip will stay on the pole...

Unless your handles are screwed on. Look for any screw that are embedded in the side of the grip, cause thats how mine are. I have to twist them off because they are screwed in or something.
