How Wide?

I'm thinking of this real early but only because i just broke my collarbone and just want to do something skiing related. I'm heading out to college in a year and a half and I'm looking to go out west somewhere like U of Utah or MSU. I'm interested to see if ill need a true pow ski (specifically looking into the Moment Bibby at 118mm underfoot as I love my Vice). I have a job and want to see if ill need to budget for a pow ski or if i could get away something more of a daily driver near 100mm underfoot. Help from someone who skis out at PC/Brighton or near MSU would be perfect.

TLDR: Do I need a true pow ski for college or more of an all mountain jibber?

If you're going to school in these places and expect to ski regularly, you need a pow ski. You will regret 100 underfoot when the entirety of Salt Lake gets hit with 2+ feet.
Honestly, I think its all about the quiver in places like CO, UT and MT. Pow ski for the deep stuff, all mountain jib ski for fresh snow and skiing all over the mountain, and park ski for those days when the laps are hot. If anything, two ski quiver of pow ski and all mountain jib ski.

yah I've grown up skiing in MN where all it is is hot laps with tow ropes and ice so I've never experienced tru pow pow. I would prefer to have 2 skis instead of 3 because i have to buy my own gear and Moment skis aren't cheap, nor really most companies. Would I be okay with like a pow and a park ski (my vice are 83 underfoot and look so maybe seek out another pair for next season). Should I go for more of a wide park ski/all mountain ski near 100mm then go for a pow?

You can have a 1 ski quiver if you get something around 110mm. If I were you I would get a true park ski or a beater and then something around that 110mm mark. You will have something for the park and shitty days and your "1 quiver" ski will last longer.

It's really up to personal preference. For myself, I would go with option A/C because I would need a park and all mountain ski to the same extent.

If you really only ski park and would only go outside of it to ski semi-deep pow, I would go with option B, but that is more limiting than the other options for someone who skis the whole mountain.

Agreed. And honestly a ton of people are moving to a wider park ski anyway with how much more capable they've become. I pretty much daily drive my J vacations at 106 underfoot. They're sick all over the mountain, they're still super fun in the park and they give me a good amount of float in fresh snow.

Probably B considering your preference and budget. My homie's setup is his vices and a pair of old candide pows and he seems pretty happy with it (We're in CO). He shreds the whole mountain on his vices with no problems and they're honestly not bad in fresh snow with how much mustache rocker they have.
Pull the trigger on some fat moments or something, that way you won't find yourself wishing for more width every time it snows. A pow ski is definitely worth it though, you'll have a blast out here on real snow!

The perfect combo is 90-105 for your park/all mountain ski, and 115+ for your pow ski.

Buy something around 100 at waist to 108 at waist. Wide enough for fresh snow but not to wide for groomers. Thats just my opinion though.

so keep them? Then pick up a pair of lightly used all mountain anda pair of powder skis for cheap in BST. There are some really great deals in there if you just look and be patient.

Also, you can find 4frnt Devastators for sub $300 online.....highly suggest.
