I just saw some dumb article on here about "jossi wells steezy afterbang during the dew tour and how the golden era is coming back in skiing" and I thought two things
1. why do people still care/watch the dew tour? as far as im concerned comp skiing is a lost cause and should be kept as far away from style as possible; see the snowboard industries distinct divide between comp kids and film riders.
2. Afterbang is the most contrived and stupid thing ever, for some reason a bunch of 12 year olds on the internet decided looking like a boner and leaning back while going limp is the coolest thing ever. its just like when kids on sk8boards do tre flips with their back leg super extended cuz its "Super steezy bro"
I feel like in skiing people dont even care about fake vs. real style and it takes away from the true expression and meaning in skiing when skiing turns into this thing where you watch it and are like "this guy is the most steezy bro cuz he has the hardest afterbang"
TLDR: afterbang turns skiing into a stupid joke and the whole era of afterbang and fake style was a pretty big joke
Jossi is the real winner here because he is just trolling the world by casually doing the same dew tour run every year like most other skiers in that competition and making a lot of money from his sponsors while people like sammy c have to jump off the biggest jump in the world to earn a decent sum from film skiing
Shoutouts to random people like jack borland and jerm vey and andy parry who just have their own style and progress in it so that people can look at it and see the qualities in it and be like "that guy does his own thing and it is sick"
