Socializing

I've been a loner for most of my life, but i'm finally starting to make more friends at the hill and integrate into society for once. I'm shy at first, but its so easy to break the ice with me and get me talking. I guess I just let other people bring out my personality.

I was always way too social as a child, which made me considered "annoying" in school and what not. I think it was just my undiagnosed and not handled ADHD. It used to piss me off that I took so much shit for it but now that i'm in my mid twenties I realize that it was honestly a God send. Much easier to learn to shut the fuck up in situations and be able to talk to and make friends with literally anyone than to start from square one of shyness. Do what makes you happy and work on it. I feel that most people have great personalities whether they show it are not. As long as people aren't self absorbed deeply on the inside at least.

Moving forward you can make anything happen and be a quiet to yourself person if you want. I have great friends of every type.

I will say this, my first interaction with a person who HARDCORE kept to themselves or HAD to have time to themselves being completely alone... was my ex. It was mind blowing to me to have a person in my life, let alone a significant other who was like this. It wasn't a big deal for most of the relationship but there is no denying that it played a large role in our demise. It was a great life experience for me though because I really couldn't fathom that a person HAD to have time to themselves, completely alone, I mean total isolation to function. Wild. But now that I kind of understand people like that it makes me a better person overall.

I hate being alone. It sucks... I'm a very extroverted person and love having someone to share my time with, be it a girlfriend or just a buddy.

On the other hand, most high school kids are just fuckboys. No reason to socialize with people that drop your IQ by 10 points every time you interact with them.

If you're in high school think about it this way. You're only around these people because you live in the same area and are stuck in a box at school with them.

But that said, it doesn't hurt to talk to them, and be social. I just looked at it all as temporary.

When I'm at school i'm in a constant daze because of boredom, so naturally i am a little quiet.

Im a loner a lot of the time, if my main group of friends is gone during lunch I just grab my food and hit the computer lab to watch ski edits. In social scenarios, depending on the crowd I need my main friend with me. Im awkward and shy so Im pretty bad with making conversations with women and most people in general, which is bad since Im currently at the beginning of a journey to "slide into homeplate."

As for skiing I prefer shredding with my crew but skiing alone or being alone in general is fine with me, spending a weekend to think about shit and chill is fine. Skiing alone is pretty fun for me, I just put in my headphones and lap without stopping.

Im trying to improve my social skills since its senior year and fuck it. So do the same OP just talk to some kids that maybe arent your closest friends but try maybe improving smaller friendships.

Don't take it too far and be too weird and removed.

And when you go to college or find yourself in a different environment try and open up and put yourself out there.

Ive come to the realization that i prefer to be alone and when i do socialize it has to be with the right people

My thing with school is like I'm here to get my school shit done, I don't really try to make friends anymore because we don't ever have anything in common. Been that way since I was like 10 haha. It's not weird, it's much easier to make friends on the mountain because you have some common ground. Think about it, you're never gonna see those fucks from your high school ever again, so if you don't wanna talk to them, don't feel like you have to.
