Pow skis for PNW?

Whats up NS? As christmas is approaching, I may have convinced my grandma to get me some new powder skis as theres a good chance I'm going away for college where theres lots of new snow. I have Kartel 106 right now so if i get a pow ski I'm not gonna get anything less than 114 mm underfoot.

So I have owned the 4frnt YLE and been on the ON3P Jeffery enough to know how they work, and I loved them both, but I want to keep my options open. I want to be able to ski wet, heavy pow, charge, be stable but playful, bust crud, and hold an edge if possible. IM looking for something semi bi directional but I'm including some directional chargers as well.

Right now I'm almost 5'8 and 135 pounds but I will probably grow a few more inches and putting on weight is up to me, but I'm working on that.

Some new skis I've considered are: (waist widths off to the side.
-Line Mordecai (114)
-Revision Subtraction (116)
- 4FRNT KYE 120 (118 in my size)
-4FNT YLE (118)
- ON3P Billy Goat (116)
-ON3P Jeffery 114
-Caravan Zepher (116)
-Atomic Bent Chet (120)
-Salomon Rocker 2 122 (115 in my size)

So NS, which ski would you recommend? I'm open to some suggestions but would like to stick to these. The Bent Chets and Mordecais really tickle my fancy.

pfd 132, lab 001, and powabungas are too fat for me. Also i don't believe in full carbon on those chairmens;)

But I guess theres some votes for rockers or bent chets

Volkl one. 116 underfoot relatively soft in he tips but is pretty solid underfoot. They also have a 26 meter turning radius or something.

Add the blizzard gunsmoke to your list, 114 underfoot , twin tipped, but classic blizzard construction.

Check Blister gear out for reviews on almost all the skis you're considering, as well as the gunsmokes.

Have you looked into Pettitors or Shreditor 112's? Both super fun and surfy for PNW snow

Moment Bibby Pro's at 116 underfoot in the 184's. Haven't skied a super deep day on them yet, but so far they are my favorite skis that I have ever owned.

I have not. Im not a huge fan of K2 and I heard the Pettitors are pretty heavy..

imasnowboardMoment Bibby Pro's at 116 underfoot in the 184's. Haven't skied a super deep day on them yet, but so far they are my favorite skis that I have ever owned.

also has anyone skied the mr pollards opus instead of the mordecai? Im not gonna be able to get a good deal on the mordecai but the opus looks pretty fun

Don't rule out the 4fnt renegade, those things love to go fast, make big turns, but can be thrown around when needed.

You know you like the Kartel, so the Jeff 114 is probably an easy call.

Bibby is worth a look, haven't been on em but I know a lot of people that absolutely swear by them as what you described. Mordecai in a shorter length could be good for ya, bit stiffer than the Jeffery I think.

I skied the KYE 110 Saturday and unless the 120 is drastically different I don't think you'll love it. Stiff, pretty dang directional ski that wants to make big turns and go fast, very different from most of the other skis on your list.

I think the Bent Chet could be super fun for you, stiffer and chargier than the Kartels but still a super fun ski. Also have friends on the Rocker 2 that absolutely love it.

If I was looking for one of those skis (which I always sort of am, I love that category) I'd be most interested in the Jeff 114, the Bibby Pro, or the Bent Chet. Everything else I've been on just didn't out preform my Shreditor 112's, and that includes everything I demoed this weekend.

Haha don't worry we'll meet up again.

And yeah I think I want to go Jeff 114 or bent Chet. I just need something that my shop carries or I need to find a good deal online. This is just me, but I feel like the Jeff 114 might not be fat enough. I just feel like if I buy another ski it should at least have a difference of 10mm. That's why I'm interested in the bent chets heavily, but they'll be hard to get a good deal on. Maybe buying used wouldn't be bad.

I liked BC's in the super soft, but once it became typical PNW crud, they folded like a pancake. Why not grab the Jeffery 122? And I would not measure the BG by it's waist width, the real width, and float is with the RES.

I love my Jeffery 114s. They are such a playful fun ski but they also charge pretty hard. I haven't had any problems with float but if you want something a little wider the Jeffery 122s will do the job

Man I wish they had a size in between, especially since 4FRNT runs a few cm small. The 177s were pretty good sizing, but the 187s would be way to big cause I'm not even 5'8 yet.


Ill probably just not get powder skis until my Kartels retire to be honest (which will hopefully be a few years). The 106 waist is just too good right now. Handles everything I need. Once they retire and when I have money ill get the K98 and the K115.
