No helmets in football - More or less concussions?

I did not check to see if there's a thread on this. We always talk about helmets in skiing, and I think it's pretty obvious that wearing a helmet skiing will prevent concussions--sure you might have more confidence and go bigger, but it won't be by much.

In football though... Without helmets would they really lead with their head when they tackle?? (Since that's how the concussions happen). From experience, I don't think they would. So using that reasoning.. If the NFL stopped using helmets, would the number of concussions go down? Or are they savage enough to still put their body at risk even without a helmet?


Why am I making this thread? Well, I either care about the issue or I'm putting off studying for finals. Not sure which one.

Haha I've tried to think of a way to shoutout NS on ESPN since I joined the site before last season. I'm definitely open to reasonable suggestions. Unfortunately Long snappers don't get the air time that RBs or QBs get haha if so I'd give a Mr. Bishop-esque "FUCKING NEWSCHOOLERS" into the camera haha

That question doesn't make any sense. One has to do with origination and the other has to do with progression.


Did rocks that were somehow always present smash together and somehow the astronomical odds came into place to make a functioning organism, or did an unearthly creator plan out every intricacy in every organism? I don't know I'll let you decide for yourself. Keep in mind that just because all we use today to prove things is science, doesn't mean that science is the only way to prove things. Or come and talk with my professor about it who you will claim knows nothing, yet he's probably double your age and cares immensely more about knowledge than you. :) But to you he is still an idiot because he doesn't follow your way of thinking haha /rant

Couldn't answer the first question nice! Much expert, most impressive. Why don't we do this, lets have the 99% of the scientific community talk to your one professor then we'll see how much he knows. Have fun believing the earth is 6000 years old.

He's a humanities professor, he doesn't care about the science of evolution. He cares about the fact that it's 100% inhumane. That survival of the fittest doesn't fit with our consciences. Why should public healthcare exist if all that matters is that the most fit survive? Why the heck would we care about the weak ones? Inhumane

I don't see the point you're trying to make if you're taking biology you learned about evolution and if you learned about it you should see that it makes sense.

I don't really know what evolution being inhumane has to do with us we don't control evolution. You seem to think humans and animals have done it by choice over the past billions years.


Take all humans that exist today and pretend like no Doctors, medical or scientific advancements existed who do you think would be alive at the end of the day? You think paralyzed and blind or weak people would be walking around? You think that these primitive woman would look at these weak scrawny primitive males and say I want to have kids with them, or do you think that they would die out pretty quickly, and females would want to give their children the best chance of living by giving their kids the best genetics they can find. So guess what happens to the people who are sick or can't fend for themselves their genetics would cease to exist.

Na only when it's brutally cold. It really takes away the feel of the ball. Maybe I'll wear a wristband and write NS on it

You're actually both correct. "Most stupid" is preferred in the formal manner, while taking it to the superlative "stupidest" is a colloquial use equally acceptable. Merely personally preference.
