Went to go try a double in late March. Riding up the lift felt like hours. I could hear my heart pounding, and my mitts were soaking with cold sweat. Got to the top only to find out that park crew had closed the big jumps for the season. I was relieved, but also bummed out cause I felt ready and I really wanted to try one.


Now I also tried a misty 4 out in February, and that was scary. Same cold sweat and all, but not as intense as when I was riding up thinking I was about to double. Had a mini blackout mid air on the misty 4. Luckily I put it to my feet, but I didn't land it. Conquered my fear of flips out of rails. But I regained that same fear back 2 months later when I made this dumb decision:

First backy off a jump that wasn't like 5 feet was definitely pretty nerve-racking , or my first cork 7 off a big jump. (Home hill has only a 10ft and 40ft) haha

maybe not the scariest but I did my first backflip at hood a few summers ago and on top of the jump line was Hornbeck and some of the hood crew guys so I certainly felt the pressure to stomp it

well i think my heart stopped when i hit a hip way too big and i thought i was going to go face first off the backside of it.

said hip and near death double tip plant


scariest "trick" i can recall was sending a three over a channel gap thing with a tree. wasn't super big but the angle you had to hit it was kinda trippy, and i kinda sucked then.

Climbing up on this roof and slowly inching my way to the end of the ledge was absolutely terrifying. Skiing down the ledge was actually fairly casual but getting there definitely had me feeling some type of way.

My first 360 on a large jump was the scariest but most rewarding jump ever. My legs were shaking as I as entering the transition. I had a huge ball in my throat and I felt like I was going to throw up as I was giving the take off. But then...I flew and had time to see everything around me.

To prove to myself that I got the backflip down; I decided to do it on the largest big air jump at the water ramps at Le Relais in Quebec City. That was a long scary hike up with a few times I almost psyched out. It was definitively higher up there than I thought. When I was given the green light, I took a breath and just relaxed. Dont remember much, but when it was all over; I could not be more relieved.

A few big mountain lines scared me to the point I almost backed out. Whitewater and Revelstoke are of those places where sometimes you have to back out.

At my home mountain, we have this jump and over the edge of a basically straight down hill. I went off it, and just straight-aired, (I suck at jumps okay man) but I overshot, and came down and ate it. Definitely the scariest thing that's ever happened to me.

Transfer to roof of utility building and then 1 off the roof. Scary just cause it was about a 10 ft drop to flat and I was landing switch and didn't have a lot of space for a run out.

Also rails scare the shit out of me, I've fucked myself on them too many times, now I'm in a rut.

As soon as you take off all you can see in front of you is your skis, if you dont throw it just right and have the sense to come out at the right time, no bueno

My first backflip was an experience to remember. I was scared shitless but I knew if I didnt do it Id regret it. Skiing up to the jump was intense, my mind kind of went blank and I got that feeling you get when your about to give a speech to an audience.

I did a zero spin mute tranny on a 40 foot box. had to focus on bombing the hill switch for speed while trying not to shit myself at the same time. I totally thought I was either going to slam on the box or completely miss the coping.

My first dub backy was pretty scary, especially on the hike up, which felt really long. Faceplanted it too, got winded hella xD

The most scary experience I had on skis is not trick related doe. I went touring (a 2h hike) and only realised my skins were too thin for my skis after an hour (just as it got quite vertical, i rented fatter skis and didnt notice my skins were too thin when i put em on). It meant that everytime i would have my skis not exactly flat on the snow they would slide back. Trust me when you have like 4km of icy glacier below it scares the fucking shit out of you, especially because I couldnt come back down (i was too to the side to get back where i came from, going down would lead me to a bowl). Definitly one of the most stressful hour of my life. I was beyond releif when i got to the top doe, might have cried a little on the way up xD anyways, always check your skins fucking fit

a fuckin gnarly/kinky urban quad kink. home hill doesn't have any sort of kinked rails, so for my first to be a sketchy urban quad was definitely scary. luckily i got the shot and didn't have any bad bails
