So, I'm going to get new skis. I am about 5' 11" 155 lbs. My current skis are 158cm (Yes I know they are way to small). I was going to get around 170cm - 175cm skis. I ski about 70% rails and 30% jumps. I ski in Minnesota except for the occasional trip out west. I ski 100% camber skis right now. Should I try rockered skis or stick with camber. I want a good park ski under 350 dollars. I have found one deal. Armada T-Halls 171cm for $313.99. Are these skis not for me or what? I was wondering if their are any other ski deals in my area of skiing and price range.
Too small, at your height, you should be closer to 180. Since you live in Minnesota I would recommend a full camber ski but if you do go out west, it may be a good idea to get something with tip and tail rocker. It comes down to personal preference.
I might just go with the 171cm because I like to get technical on rails. I think 171cm will be big enough. These skis are the best deals I have found and they only have the 171cm anyways.
Don't shy away from something with some rocker, particularly mustache rocker with camber underfoot. Butters and surface swaps become much easier with some tip and tail rocker. I grew up racing and I hated rocker for the longest time but the tech has changed and improved so much that I'm a believer now. Now they are pretty much just as stable and predictable as something with full camber but way more playful. Bottom line is something with rocker is a lot more forgiving when you fuck up and much easier to experiment with.
