TheStamosI jut decided to stay in Tahoe for the WInter and I cant buy a season pass anymore??? Its the first week in December, your mountains are barely open and I cant buy a pass? Eat my D#CK you greedy fucks.I'm not going to buy a lift ticket, Im taking my $$ somewhere else, and I wont forget this.
dan4060They have a long period where you can buy a pass, I'm sorry you missed it. Most good pas deals, whether the epic pass or the California 4 pass, don't last long.
When I lived in Tahoe the early season deal at Squaw for a full pass was 1,200.
StaticTry not to choke on that corporate dick. You can't even buy a season pass to heavenly anymore this season, not for $1200 not for nothing. Fuck Vail corp.
UilyJeffDon't they have a set timeframe to buy them? If you miss that timeframe no one is to blame but the person who fucked up and didn't pay attention to the timeframe. It certainly isn't the resorts fault. Common sense goes a long way.
StaticWell seeing as how it's the resorts decision to stop selling season passes I would say it's their fault you can no longer buy a season pass.
UilyJeffWhere I'm at they don't do that. Every place advertises a select period of time that season passes are available and if you miss that you're fucked. I've had it happen. I can't imagine vail being any different.

dan4060Why am I choking on corporate dick? I merely explained to you what the situation is. You should have purchased your pass earlier. The time frame is all over the place, why should they alter that because of you? You had the chance to purchase a pass and you fucked up.
Like it or not, ski areas are a business. They sell early bird passes to make sure they can sock away enough revenue in case they have a bad season. They are not a charity. What did you expect. If you decide to wait to see if it snows, or wait to decide where you want to live, that is your fault. If the mountain never opens I don't get the money for my Mammoth pass back. If you wait to decide where you are going to go you risk missing out on the best deals, I'm not sure why you did not act earlier, that is your fault. You certainly had plenty of time.
I suggest doing some planning next time. I am just happy the resorts offer such great deals. Years ago the cheap Mammoth pass was only available in March or April, you had to plan what you were going to do for next season.
The epic pass is one of the best deals going. You are an idiot for missing out on it. You have no one to blame but yourself. Next time plan ahead.
Like I said, the deal for Squaw for 1,200 was for an early bird pass. The regular pass was 1,600. I have no sympathy for people who can't get their act together enough to plan early. If you miss the deadline to buy a pass deal with it. You have no one to blame but yourself. Take some responsibility for your actions and grow up. Allowing a cheap pass to be purchased late in the fall is actually a very long period to make a decision.
The epic pass actually gives people plenty of time to purchase it.

StaticYou're defending a company that fucks people over for the sake of fucking people over. He isn't asking for an early season discount. He wants to buy a pass to ski where he's going to be living. If a resort prices a season pass at $2k that's still palatable if you're living there and going skiing everyday, but no that's still not enough profit for them, they want over $15k for the prospect of skiing daily this winter. They don't even want locals there in the first place, resorts that operate like this are killing ski towns all over the west. Vail isn't for skiing; they are for extracting as much money as they can, the skiing experience be dammed.
UilyJeffOnly one of these comments makes any sense at all. The other sounds like an idiotic rant void of all common sense. I'll let you decide which is which...

mmccarthy14I think it's very respectful that OP blurred out the U in FUCK
StaticDude, you're the one who said it wasn't the resorts fault for no longer selling passes. You're the one who said "my resort doesn't do that" whatever the fuck that means. You're the one in fuckin Michigan. Got that fuckin beard like you're down but you're just a dip shit who doesn't even know what's going on.
MinggI'm actually really sad/angry for you OP.
If you need someone to suck some dick at vail, hit me up. I gotchu.
UilyJeffWhat the fuck does my beard, or where I live have to do with someone not buying their pass before the deadline and complaining about it as if it's the resorts fault? You are truly special. I could see if they shortened the deadline or timeframe to purchase that there would be a problem, but that isn't the case here. This is someone bitching because they forgot to buy their fucking pass and wants to do it now that it's too late. Nothing more.
Op was irresponsible. That's his fault. Not the corporation, resort, uncle ricks dick, or some ass complaining all over his thread. His fault.
MinggNo offense dude but do you understand the purpose of having a cut off like that?
No one else does that. Hell, we'll sell you a season pass up until the last day of the season if that's when you want to buy one. By having a cut off date like that it forces the skiers who are on the fence to be forced into paying more throughout the season. People in OP's situation get fucked over from it. Like he said, he wasn't planning on being in Tahoe. Why are you getting so fucking angry and defensive over it?
ErikweiszWell that's on you bro. They have had a pass cutoff date for a long time now. It even says on their website. Good luck with your corporate struggle but try and find a pass priced at what vail resorts is.
Sun valley-$3500 snowbird-$1200 alta-$1100 Brighton non midweek-$800 just to name a few
These are your real enemies, not the company offering unlimited 14 mountain access for $500. There was an article last year in ski mag. It talked about the number of people skiing in the 80's and the amount skiing now. It's far far less now than back then. Why? Mainly cost for people is a big reason. Vail resorts understands that, that's why the epic pass is great for vacationing families and great for the sport
MinggI'm actually really sad/angry for you OP.

GrantLewisIsDNTMMine did you just offer to suck his dick at Vail?
Minggyeah...
so?
dan4060This. Vail corp is not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts, they are doing it to make money, but it is still a great deal. In general acting early gets you the best deals. Want to go to Snowbird for a week. Better act early to get good prices on plane tickets and condos. If you wait until you know how the snow is going to be you will miss out on the best deals, so there is price to pay for waiting. If you want to wait until you know about snow conditions that is on you. This is just how the world works. It would be wise for the OP to understand this and work within this system, planning early to get those great deals, rather than complain. If you complain about something like this you will be able to complain about quite a bit in this country. It is a shame things are this way, but accept it for the way it is and take advantage of the great deals. If you want to get a deal plan ahead next year and get that pass.
Also, in case anyone thinks it is just Vail and Intrawest that are doing this, think again. Bridger Bowl and Mt. Baldy, two of the most non-corporate ski areas out there, have the same deal. I can't think of a ski resort out there that does not, although there could be an exception. I highly doubt you will find something different at a good western mountain, although I could be wrong. Like I said before, if you miss a deadline that is on you, not the ski area. Even the ski areas that are co-ops need to make enough cash to fund their operations.
I am sorry the OP missed the deal, but that is what happens when you plan things too late. Take it as a learning experience and plan early next time. There might be other options for getting a pass. You might be able to work part-time at a resort ski instructing and get a pass. I did that at Squaw during my ski bum years. I worked nights to support myself and worked weekends to get a pass. You only had to be on call to teach 25 days at Squaw in order to get the pass, and they would usually just let you go if they did not need you if they knew you were part time. I don't know if it is still that way, but you should look into it.

TheStamosDidn't read, don't care. Happy to go somewhere else. Obviously you care more than I do since you wrote a book in this thread.
SkiBum.You are doing it wrong if you are in Tahoe and skiing N* and Heavenly.

dan4060Good luck, I hope you are able to have a good season. Like I said before, I am not saying I like the corporate culture of Vail, just that this is the way ski resorts operate. You an either accept it and plan your winter early and get good deals, or accept the consequences. They won't change for you so you might as well get on the program. The only place that does not seem to do this is Squaw, which really surprises me. And I'm not saying it is good that Vail does this, just that if you want to ski those resorts you have to play by their rules.
Once again, good luck. I hope you find a place to ski this year.
Minggyeah...
so?
quixoticyou didn't mention Kirkwood.
if you live in south lake, the vail pass is sick. drive up to N* on sunny park days, head south to kirkwood on pow days / when conditions are dope, hit heavenly when you want to shred for an hour or two and can't devote a whole day to skiing.
