Haven't really been following skiing much lately. I came to realize a few days ago that some of the "They See Me Trollin" vids don't have sound any more (youtube copyright bullshit). Has Steve put out any new edits/web series recently? The only time I even see his name is when he posts instas of his new J ski lol.

Yeah I mean, people want to be paid for the use of their property, ie their music. There is a big difference between making an edit with your friends and using lil wayne and getting muted and a fully produced series by a clothing company using music and getting muted...

Its nearly impossible for a computer to figure that out and its technically still 'illegal' even if you're not making money, just sayin.

Anything with a brand on it technically has to be given permission and sometimes pay royalties. Little edits by pros slide because they aren't direct promotions tied to a brand, they're usually looked at as just art. Look at the traveling circus for instance, all of their music is small indie stuff that I'm guessing they got permission to use. It's kind of a blurry area as far as law goes because it's tough to police such small corporations.

This is all based off of a semester of communication, I could be very wrong about this.

Using someone else's property for your benefit whether you make money or not is breaking copyright and usually most videos get swept under the rug because they aren't super popular, just because you don't get in trouble doesn't mean it's not illegal guys.
