The North Shore's Sawtooth 'Mountains' have some real opportunities for excellent backcountry terrain and we are forming a group to explore, advocate and work toward expanding and maintaining excellent Backcountry skiing in the Arrowhead. If open glades, hut to hut skiing and access trails excite you or you already have some favourite spots you would like to improve or protect then come to Lutsen Recreation, Inc, 245 Ski Hill Rd in Lutsen on December 20th at 6PM for an informal meeting. Also attached is a map of West Moose Mountain, highlighted is an example of a section of terrain with over 600' vert and 15-40 degree pitches that we have skied and scouted for years. Probably the best example but really there are over a dozen other areas that I am aware of with over 300' and some with over 400'.
