Getting Media Access to Comps

So this year I want to get some media access to comps on the East Coast for filming like the Carinthia Freeski Open and the Dumont Cup. How do I go about getting media access for these events?

send a video portfolio to the organisers of whatever event you want to film, dont expect to be payed for the first couple but you've just got to get into contact with the organisers.

Ask. Literally. Just ask and you're pretty set as long as you have work you can show.

I'm just speaking from personal experience with event work, granted i haven't done alot but as i said thats how i got my first gig.

What part of my advise do you think is wrong?

The kid is looking for credentials for access to film events. Thats not really a position where people get paid, what you started talking about is like working for an event and creating content. Just two completey different topics its confusing.

I wasn't planning on getting payed at all I just wanted to do this for fun and to build my skills and get more experience.

I mean, I have a great example. I wanted to film rails to riches and I did. I shit you not I think I sent a solid 25 to 30 emails to people including athletes asking if I could film or get a media pass for the event. Eventually someone said yes. In the end what I'm getting at is just ask, what's the worst thing that could happen?
