That plane is simply massive, props to all the engineers that developped such a huge piece of metal and composites to make it actually fly, first flight on monday the 18th.

I am bumping this because I just saw it this morning flying into Vancouver from Sydney. What a huge ass bird, it landed with sunlit Mt Baker in the background, and sooo quiet.

i made this thread almost 2 years ago, so it's been flying for about that time. It's doing final route-proving tests, it flew from Toulouse to Johannesburg, then to Sydney (16 hours!) and then Vancouver, heading back to Toulouse today, or later if the snow delays take off.

thats true.  And another problem is every airport that it will be used at wont be able to accomodate it at the terminal because its wing span is larger than the space between gates.  If it doesnt sell big airbus will go out of business

Yeah I saw the 225 a few years ago in Paris and people were standing on its wings, it is incredible, hard to see the scale on a picture

Thing is nice, my brother saw it fly at the paris air show in 2005, said it was amazing.

And its not tanking airbus, sure as hell doesn't help with all the delays etc, but that always happens when a plane is first released. Look back to the 747, it had problems too, maybe not as bad, but bad nonetheless. It'll do fine

for some reason my dad hates airbus I dont know why but he is an aircraft mechanic and he hates working on them. Also that plane is fucking huge.

Here is a cool story. So the Boeing 777 has some very powerful engines. In fact if you take them up to full power on asphalt the suction will rips chunks of asphalt into the engine. I thought that was pretty impressive.

hahah my dads a pilot for northwest and he hit a goose and knocked half the fuckin engine offon take off. and to the guy that says your dad hates airbus my dads the same way except he flys instead of works on them. hes flew an airbus a320 for awhile then swtiched back to the boeing 757 but that was alonnnnggg time ago so who knows now i guess
