I was looking through some photos from the summer and early fall today as I wait for it to snow and thought "damn, even though the weather is shitty and some of the people are shitty I live in a pretty okay place"
That inspired me to make this thread so I can see all your cool places and think about something other than the fact it's supposed to be in the 40s until Christmas. So here it is.
The beach and some pretty awesome scenic driving
My backyard
And Chuck Wagon. The best fucking pizza in Michigan.
For my house, I have a big backyard for skiing, walk through the words and theres a decent sized pond, neighbors built walking trails in the back woods with bridges over the creek.
I have tons of dirt and pavement backroads all around my whole county to play on, live 25 minutes from the hill which I get to drive through picturesque New England towns to get to.
But in terms of my local area I live less than 10 minutes from this view, which is an easy ass hike for sunrise/sunset.
Aside from the skiing, I would never wanna live anywhere else in America than New England.
too much to list. somedays it still feels like a dream coming from growing up skiing shitty landfills in SE Michigan. I don't even give a fuck how weird Utah gets sometimes, this place is a mecca for anyone that wants to be outside on skis, bikes, climbing rocks, etc.
this sunset is amazing too, makes the drive home soo much better:
I personally think this is super undervalued, but when it clears up after big storms here, it is honestly some of the prettiest sights you will ever see in your life, this picture doesn't do it justice but you get the idea, storm days and the day after when it clears are the best days of skiing imo:
oh and the abundance of delicious Mexican food makes it awesome as well.

Yeah over by flint and such can be bad. But the north west part is pretty cool. Still can't wait to be out west

the lakes of southeastern/western MI and northern MI are awesome, though. at least where I grew up, it was just a lake filled with drunk blue collar workers that would just get shitcanned and drive boats all summer, then race snowmobiles and play hockey all winter. now they're turning into vacation spots for wealthy Chicago folks and shit, property values are outrageous now, it used to be a really great lake community that was affordable for young families, but that's the way she goes.
Northern Michigan and the UP hold special places in my heart. Michigan summers are hard to compare anywhere else, imo.
JustGoWithItA lot of things to do and see. And it's kinda fun driving around town.
:-) I shredded the shit commuting home from UMD everyday on my longboard. Duluth molded me--freeskiing and longboarding.
Now I live in Denver. Honestly, I kinda feel bad for my friends who live in the mountains. Either I'm just a not very core skier, but there's a lot to be said about being able to vacation to winter and enjoy the mountains while enjoying an average high in the 50s at home all winter long. Motorcycles and sports cars get brought out every month while my friends in the mountains have nothing to do but ski every day.. Love washing my car in the driveway in January
Also shout out to the Utah homies, I agree if you just open up your mind and get past the mormon cultural influences, SLC is dope AF. Can't not go to Red Iguana everytime I go
From my door I can walk 30min downhill and be in town to eat, drink, and be merry or down at the lake to do the same. Or, I can put skins on and walk uphill from my front door and bag a summit and ski 1400M vertical right to my door. Within an hour drive I have multiple lakes, mountain ranges, wilderness, multiple ski resorts, and plenty of good friends.
It's also not really very busy with tourists, so we have it all to ourselves.
Honestly hate my Town. Some of the fattest and laziest people here. High school is filled with fake hicks, transgenders, and a few rich snobs. the only thing I have pride in is that Paul Ryan is from here.

Are you serious or just making fun of all the other Denverites? Who the hell would rather be washing their car in January instead of skiing everyday?
