Lately I've noticed a strong tension between my dad and I. He seems fed up with how different I am than him, and I am fed up with his bad attitude and the way he talks about my mom.
He talks about her like she is useless, so I finally called him out on it. I told him she wasn't doing anything wrong. My relationship with him has been shit ever since. We don't fight, but we disagree on everything and try to be different.
I feel like its an authority thing. Maybe fathers just feel like they always have to be better than their son? They can't be proved wrong? I researched it a bit and read an article about how young men can act as a threat to their father and it just creates a silent battle between the two. It is in our blood, we want to be the leader.
Have any of you had bad relationships with Dad's like this?
