chacha33Do you have like a school permit that allows you to drive to school related events? I did and I told my parents my school had a ski team and it was all good.
The.Natty.VeganAnd it's been a great year
MinggI needed a car before I could even get a job..? What did your guys' parents do? drive you to work or something? hahaha.
My parents didn't want me working in high school. They'd rather see me focus on school and being a kid. Even now that I'm in college they hate that I work. I think it's pretty strange how parents force their kids into working tbh. If you're in high school or college that should be a priority, especially if you're paying for it. So I see why they'd want you to keep your grades up. That's pretty important tbh, even if you don't really care about school.
I'm still trying to figure out the logic of getting a job before having a car. Isn't that like a huge burden on your parents to drive you around? That just sounds stupid in my opinion.
californiagrownNot everyone lives in the boonies where biking or walking or bussing to a job is impossible.
And how hard did you really focus on studying in high school? Lol. You're parents wanted to let you be a responsibility less kid for a little while longer. That's why they didn't encourage you to get a job. Not so you could 'focus on your studies" haha. Nothing wrong with that though.
The.Natty.VeganYou're just butthurt because I got pink names all up in my inbox and you're still trying to convince yourself that losing your virginity at 23 somehow verified your pathetic existence.
MinggFreshmen and Sophomore year not so much but Junior and Senior year I took seriously and graduated 8th in my class lol. Soooo, yeah I did focus on it quite a bit and still do. I value school a lot lol.
nocturnalRemember that time you told me you wanted to be a doctor but because people in your town and your parents were mean and told you female doctors don't exist you stoped pursuing it..........
Minggremember that time I was oh so serious(:
nocturnalSo you admit you were lying to try to prove a fact that something existed when i said it didnt. That's funny because Sarah Silverman did the same thing not too long ago.
MinggI'm too stupid
Minggyeah that's true. I'm in the suburbs and we don't have any kind of public transportation whatsoever. Biking is good for the summer but super dangerous in the winter here.
My dad has his own business and he's working all day everyday. So there would have been no way to get me anywhere. My brother also worked 2-10 so there was no actual way for me to work without a car. It would have been more of a hassle for my dad to leave a job site to drive me somewhere. I'd imagine that can be said for a lot of parents...? Maybe, I'm not sure. But it wouldn't have worked for me. So I had to get my license and a car as soon as possible.

californiagrownCuriously what college are you going to?
I was lucky enough to be able to bike year round because I didn't have access to a car when living at home, and my parents were not stoked when I had to be put on their car insurance. I also didn't give 2 shits about school in HS because, frankly, HS is kindof a joke... But HS school sports should be taken very, very seriously!
Moral of the story, there are a lot of reasons why kids don't need their license at 16... And OP is an idiot for thinking his parents are outrageously demanding.
MinggUniversity at Buffalo for now.
yeah insurance was kind of rad for me. Because of my dads business he put it on that insurance and claimed it as a work vehicle and doing that added like 2 dollars a month to his insurance. Sooo I lucked out haha. I just needed to buy a car and pay for my gas basically.
japanadaprove it that your worth them paying for your insurance, rent, food, the car, ect. Life is a give and take, you want the responsibility of driving, the man up and get a job, get good grades and show your parents that your worthy of having a license.
PeppermillRenoUB is an awesome school I wouldn't dream of transferring anywhere shittier. (Which means any big schools around skiing UU, CU, UVM are significant steps down UB is a lot better than each only alums of those schools will disagree.)
DO you have a fake ID and go to bars? If not thats why you aren't having fun. I visited UB mad when I was at Syracuse and we always ended up in a bar or sketchy nightclub after whatever party even tho I wasnt 21 they stay open until freakin 4.
.Rybak.My dad was really strict when i got my permit but then like 6 months in to having ny license he was fine.
