Anewmorning gave an awesome explanation of polygamy vs adultery. If there is one thing that I really can't stand, it's blatant ignorance. I have read so many rants on the Mormon church on this site, but everyone with a problem usually has no first hand experience, and is only going on with the 'Newschooler's teenage status quo', and saying things that have nothing to do with Mormon beliefs. If anybody really wants to know about our church, ask someone who is a member... don't believe hearsay.
Furthermore, let people believe how they see fit, instead of talking heat on their church. A Mormon is not 'better' than a Catholic, or a Jew. We believe to be part of the only true church on the Earth, but many Catholics believe the same thing. It all comes down to doing what makes you and your family truly happy.

trixta you don't have to be baptised to believe in something (unless maybe your catholic?). I'm a christain and I have never been baptised. Baptism is a symbol of being born again as a saved christain, something that should be done after the commitment has been made

see for example, being baptised: your parents do it to you when you're a baby or a little kid usually. Now if you think just of logic and forget spirituality, how can some water on your head or some skin taken of your penis can make you born again? Especially when your parents do it to you and you're not even conscious of it. I wasnst baptised(in other words imposed a religion) either and I think its good because I can make my choices about whichever religion I wanna join(if I do wanna join a religion). But I respect every single religion because I could myself have been religious, depending on the education I received.

french_fry... the baptism, while it has some ceremonial value, doesn't make you a born again christian or even a christian at all. That is based on a personal decision to follow Christ and to form a personal relationship with God. Understanding what Christ did for you on the cross.

Humans are naturally afraid of death, it comes with conciousness, the cool thing is since they now have taught several gorillas to communicate through sign language, those gorillas too have become concious of their own existance and one expressed fear of death and another asked where it will go when it dies. These same questions were asked thousands of years ago and from them stemmed religion. Do i believe in god, yes, do i believe in the bible, the tora, the koran or any other of this religious bullshit, no, religion is the worst thign taht has happened to humanity. It has only cuased war and death in its name

good call rodadeaco. I actually don't know that much about religion. I guess my belief is that if I get somewhere, it's not because of some higher power (or because that's what I was meant to do, or had designed for me), but because I worked and got there. I do believe in God to an extent though. The spirit of God anyways... not as an actual being that cares about me.

We don't need a religion.I never had faith in anything but science.Jesus came to earth to bring a code of conduct (teachings) but now,people dont follow them.
Religion is a root of the violence.It started the 2nd world war and the middle east war.

i feel bad for not repecting peoples opinions. but i cant help but laugh at people who live there life by the bible and recite passages from it and tell people passages to read and can name all the prophets and stuff like that. it just seems silly to me.

im in this open minded religion where we allow others have their own faiths on their path to spiritual enlightenment and moral responsibility and not rag on them for it.
its called Judaism.

I was baptised as a protestnat when I was a baby.

THough now I've actually looked into all of this malarky I believe firmly that I'm an athiest.

I am actually pretty pissed off that I wasn't given a choice in all of this, and to this day my mum still shushes me when there's religious discussions and tells me I'm a christian.

It's made me determined not to impose any religion upon any children I might have, I will let them decide.
