Replying to Canon T3i Vs. Canon Vixia R600 (PLEASE HELP)

So I was searching for cameras on eBay because i want to get more into filming this year. I found a camcorder called the Canon Vixia R600 for $300 that came with some extra lenses, case and a tripod. The camcorder shoots at 1080p 60fps and that seemed really good for the price. I looked around on newschoolers though and everyone seems to only talk about cameras like the T2i or T3i which only shoot in 1080p 30fps so I can't imagine you can even do slow motion. Can someone tell me what makes DSLRs so much more popular than camcorders because they seem worse in terms of specs. If you would like to suggest any other camera, Im trying not to spend more than $300.
