Admit it!!! At one time or other most of us were gapers (I realize there are quite a few people who might not think they were). On NS we love to make fun of Gapers but I feel like we all have a few stories of our days of goggle gap. I know I sure do. So share your best, funniest, most embarassing stories of yourself as a gaper.


My very first day skiing I took out a slow sign and ended up screamin seamen with my ankles touching my shoulder blades.

I would have buddies take pictures of me getting like 1 foot of air off jumps. Then I would crop the ground out thinking people on facebook would be convinced I actually got a ton of air

I cringe every time I think about that

Me too! Sometimes the snowboarders sitting on the run are like "that is not a jump" while I'm in the air. Do they think these lips are art and that we should all just sit down on the run?
Also I've been wearing the same hard sided helmet since sometime last decade. On sunny days I combine it with glacier glasses.

Last season I did a lip on with no blind 2... a lip on blind truuuuu is what distiguishes me from being a gaaper :( :( it was a devastating moment of my ski career...

I had to take a shit a few years ago and back taco-ed a rail while I had a dip in and immediately shit my pants on hill, went into the trees and cut my underwear off with my pocket knife and used the scraps to wipe, then I left the tatters in the woods, probably still there, worked out really well and free-ballin isn't a bad thing at all,

Age 13 in 2009. Made my first video of my friend and I doing 180's the entire time.
Shaky footage on a flip-video camera.
Thought we were the shit. Over-edited the crap out of it.

Tried to go around and orange fence but proceeded to fall in the snow. It was 3 feet deep and 12 year old me couldn't get out so I cried as my Mom, Dad and Sis flagged down a ski patroller after ten minutes

My fam would always go to whitefish when I was like maybe 10 and me and my cousin would think we were the coolest mufuckas in the park cuz we'd spread eagle 10ft kickers with our rental skis and one piece snowsuits

my friend spit on my ski on the chair so when it was time to get off I tried dipping it in the snow to get it off but my ski got stuck and I did a full double eject faceplant down the ramp.

THEDIRTYBUBBLEFell getting off the lift once. Put my skis in a screaming seamen position on the lift and forgot to put them back. I have an ADD counselor now


hahaha i did the same thing... but it was last winter lol. tried to hold screamin as long as i could before the end of the lift and ate shit. never a gaper tho, i wore 4xl diapers as a baby

Me an all of my friends crowded around this tiny 1 or 2 foot jump with like 4 gopros and just hiked it all morning and were filming all day. We were all doing 180s and when one of us finally got a 360 we all moved over to the 5 foot rail and hiked that all afternoon. When one of us landed switch out of the rail we all got hyped.

went skiing in zermatt a couple summers ago, and i had never used a t bar or anything like that before. First try i fell off, and then stepped to the side to let someone else go ahead of me. Didn't occur to me that the t bar would come back around on that side, and it smacked me in the head and i fell over. After i got back up, i tried to get on the next one, but i couldn't get on it the right way. Instead of trying again, i just grabbed it with my arms and let it pull me up from under my armpits

I was wearing these really small walmart goggles with a racing helmet and skis and tried to this jump, but I nose dived and my tips dug in the landing and I slid on my stomach all the way down the hill

I have a buddy that's really in to photography and filming and a few years back he agreed to come come film me. He walked up the hill into the park probably a good 100 yards with all his camera equipment to film. At the end of the session, for some reason we both decided it would be a good idea for him to stand on the back of my skis while I skied down so he wouldn't have to walk again. We made it about 75 yards and I hear an "oh shit!" behind me and turn around to him tumbling in the snow with $1000 of camera equipment.

Luckily, the only thing that broke was a lens cap. We still laugh about it to this day but he hasn't filmed me ever again.
