Welding job involved with sking

I am a welder fresh out of college with a job working on tugboats on Vancouver Island. Essentially got into welding to build park features and skateboard rails and ramps. I am a skier/skateboarder that has fallen in love with the trade but would really like a job where I could get the best of both worlds.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I would say work at the mountain of your choice, doing whatever you can. Hang out with park crew and let them know your welding certified. That's pretty much how all of our park crew people get hired on in Aspen.

Check out doppelmayr and sky trac in slc. They are chairlift manufactures that pay out well enough to let you shread all winter.

Couldn't say it better. All the welders at my mountain are kats on park crew that can also weld.

try looking for a lift ops job , alot of big resorts will hire welders for maintence. from there maybe work your way into terrain park

Most resorts these days have in house welders. Usually a few people that know how to weld/certified and a few that can weld.

Most parks build and maintain their own rails in house.

Another way to look or lean to is get on with a snowmaking company. Instal of new stuff has been on the boom past few years. Only few companies do it, next to impossible to get on with them. But a thought. Also, zap lock is better then any welder...
