Seeking advice from NS because I relate to the skiing community, and you guys provide great perspective. I will be graduating with a degree in Diesel Technology. The pay is great in this field, however the the stress load on the body and mind are stacked against me. Most people in this career barely make it to 50 years old before they are riddled with back and joint issues. The nature of this work comes with the occasional mandatory overtime (dependent on client needs) as well as drug screening. I will have to find another source of income eventually given the tolls on the body. I was giving thought to a lifestyle switch up today. I was most happy when cannabis and skiing were playing major parts in my day to day life. So why not become educated and qualified in the position of master grower cultivator in the rapidly emerging market of recreational and medicinal cannabis? This change in quality of life would allow me to pursue my passion of herbal medicine while being able to enjoy skiing. Would this be a mistake to pursue unconventional work?
Do both. Continue your job as a mechanic and try growing some green on the side and consider it as art. If you can grow very nice plants, then you can move up to mass production. Then you can let growing become your main money maker.
Or you can cultivate and have extra income to work less in the field you dont like.
In any case, dont ditch everything for the green rush. Some people have spent a lifetime doing this.
Keep your tips up and have good attitude. These two things let you take anything that life throws at you. And always do what makes you happy and no matter what find a way and never settle for less.
if it was easy to start your own business, and make a living doing exactly what you want to do, everyone would do it.
So it isn't as easy as saying--hmmm, should I continue going to school and get a job in my field, or should i drop out and become a successful entrepreneur?
With the ever expanding cannabis market comes ever increasing numbers of growers and producers. Not to discourage, i would do what someone above recommended. Get your licence , get a real indoor setup going and grow some awesome dank memes. When you get to the point where you have a dispensary willing to carry your product or you have patients of your own then say fuck the job and live the dream.
